Oh, no! The ice is melting!

The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway.

Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm.

Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

Of course, that was from the Post in November, 1922.

All this before we had supposedly spewed enough “greenhouse gases” into the air to change the climate. But, then again, the theory of  anthropogenic global warming has never dealt well with climate history.

Obama promises to be a friend of Israel

But his pastor sounds more like a friend of Ahmadinejad:

“Israel” is a “dirty word?”

According to Loopy Dictator President Gilligan Ahmadinejad, Israel is “filthy bacteria.”

Hmmm….

Senator Barack Obama, Prophet of the new Post-Racial Politics of Change and Hope, claims he supports a strong, close relationship with Israel. At one point, his web site proclaims:

Barack Obama strongly supports the U.S.-Israel relationship, believes that our first and incontrovertible commitment in the Middle East must be to the security of Israel, America’s strongest ally in the Middle East. Obama supports this closeness, stating that that the United States would never distance itself from Israel.

Yet his minister of twenty years, the man Obama has said keeps his priorities straight and his moral compass calibrated, who performed the Obamas’ wedding and baptized their children, has described this “strongest ally” as a “dirty word.”

That’s something that would draw applause in Tehran.

I’d really like to hear Obama explain this at donor parties in New York and Hollywood. Heck, I want to see how he tries to cover his rear in today’s speech.

And I bet Hillary is still smiling.
