Breaking: Shi’ite Islam is a Jewish conspiracy

November 18, 2013

satire tinfoilhat conspiracy

Oh, why not? Everything else is.

An interesting article from Dr. Andrew Bostum on another aspect of Islamic antisemitism:

Last week, marked the gruesome and bloody spectacle which punctuates the annual Shiite Muslim celebration of Ashura (the 10th day of the month of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar). This date serves as a memorial for slain Shiite leader Hussein bin Ali, executed by order of Sunni Caliph Yazid bin Muawiyah in 680 C.E. Following his decapitation, Hussein’s head was brought to Damascus, the seat of the Umayyad Caliphate of Yazid and displayed for a month, culminating (temporarily) a furious period of internecine strife in early Islamic history, whose sanguinary and brutal sectarian legacy is still manifest today, most notably in Syria, and Iraq.

While such narrative accounts of Sunni-Shiite sectarian strife are routinely shared by non-Muslim pundits, these experts never reveal its dark theological underpinning: Islam’s most bitter and lasting internecine struggle is yet another “Jewish conspiracy.” As put forth in seminal early Muslim historiography (for example, by Tabari, d. 923), Abd Allah b. Saba, an alleged renegade Yemenite Jew is claimed to be the founder of the heterodox Shiite sect. He is held responsible—identified as a Jew—for promoting the Shiite heresy and fomenting the rebellion and internal strife associated with this primary breach in Islam’s “political innocence,” culminating in the assassination of the third Rightly Guided Caliph Uthman, and the bitter, lasting legacy of Sunni-Shi’ite sectarian strife.

This should also serve as a corrective to those who think Jew-hatred was an import from the Nazis, a sickness that infected the Religion of Tolerance in the 1930s and 1940s. Far from it. Antisemitism is homegrown in Islam, and the alliance with the Nazis was a case of mutual recognition and simpatico.

No, the Supreme Court did not hand the 2000 election to George W. Bush

December 13, 2012

tinfoilhat_thumb.jpg

Really, the myth that the Court somehow stole the election is getting up there with 9/11 Trutherism and Kennedy conspiracy theories. Tim Carney, commenting on a Dana Milbank article in The Washington Post that claims the Court denied Joe Lieberman the vice-presidency, sets the record straight:

But the Supreme Court didn’t deny Lieberman Florida. The voters of Florida did.

How do I know?

Because of the media recounts after the election.

If SCOTUS had never taken up the case, or had let the Florida Supreme Court ruing stand, we would have had a statewide recount of all undervotes — and Bush would have won, according to the media recounts.

If Gore had gotten what he was asking for, a hand recount in four counties, Bush still would have won, according to the media recounts.

Some liberals hang their hat on a third, imaginary recount of all ballots, including overvotes. About that imaginary recount (1) it would have been illegal, (2) Gore probably would have opposed it, and (3) which no court had ordered. And even so, only maybe would it have given the election to Gore.

Really, people. Get over it. Gore lost, and he lost because he couldn’t carry even his home state.

(Video) The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is a work of SCIENCE!!!

April 16, 2012

Don’t look at me like I’m nuts! I heard it on Egyptian TV! It must be true!!

And here’s a sample from the transcript:

Whoever does not believe me can look at The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. This is no book of poetry or stories. The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is a matter of undisputable science.

There was a meeting of the Freemasons in France, and a French woman managed to smuggle out some dangerous documents, which circulated in the meeting.

Between 1897 and 1951, the secret Zionist groups held nearly 23 meetings, one of which was a large gathering, which included over 50 Zionist groups. They issued several documents: How can we gain control over the world’s minds? How can we gain control of the media? How can we turn the mighty national armies into cantons, which will fight one another? How can we gain control over the flow of capital? How can we gain control over the presidents and state leaders, and turn them into collaborators?

A French woman managed to smuggle out these documents, which serve as the backbone of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

And the rest, as they was, was history. A fruit-loopy, conspiracy-mongering history straight from the persecution complexes of minds that can’t handle the modern world, but still a form of history.

According to this site, al-Nas TV is an Islamic religious channel specializing in programming for muftis, scholars who interpret Islamic law. In other words, important cultural and spiritual leaders for significant portions of Egypt’s population. And this is what those “scholars” are learning.

Following on from the questions asked earlier, one has to wonder just how Israel is supposed to negotiate and make genuine peace with a society suffering from cultural paranoid psychosis?

Somehow, I think the question answers itself.

RELATED: The real history of the Protocols is that they were written around 1905 by a Russian mystic who plagiarized a French satirical work that itself never mentioned Jews. He just added them to “prove” Jews were out to control the world. You can read all about it at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s site. Sadly, like Hitler’s Mein Kampf, the Protocols is very popular in the Muslim  Middle East.

Rep. Barbara Lee: race-baiter or just an idiot? You make the call.

December 11, 2011

A few days ago, on the floor of the House, Representative Lee (D-CA) declared that requiring voters to present identification in order to vote was a… wait for it…  racist plot!!!

A Democratic lawmaker said Wednesday on the House floor that Republican legislators around the country are purposefully trying to deny blacks the right to vote by pushing for voter identification laws.

“It’s no coincidence that a disproportionate number of these affected voters come from communities of color as well as the poor, the elderly and students,” said Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), a former chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus.

“Having been born and raised in Texas, this certainly looks like a poll tax to me, which those of us remember as a way to prevent African Americans from voting. These voter ID laws have a partisan agenda: seeking to disenfranchise and deny specific populations of voters before they have the opportunity to elect their representatives in government.”

She also said the laws are meant to change election outcomes by “turning the clock back to the days of Jim Crow.”

Pardon me, I need to beat my head against a wall for a moment.

There. I feel better.

If you think you’ve heard this song before, you’re right. Just a few days ago, a Democratic Party support organization masquerading as a civil rights advocacy group, the NAACP, announced plans to ask the United Nations to intervene against the racist evils of voter ID laws.

And, let’s not forget, the Chairwoman of the Democratic Party, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, accused Republicans of wanting to take America back to the days of Jim Crow. It seems Congresswoman Lee needs the same history lesson about her own party I gave Wasserman-Schultz:

  • Q. Which party defended slavery? A. The Democratic Party.
  • Q. Which party opposed slavery? A. The Republican Party.
  • Q. Between 1875 and 1964, which party passed every major civil rights bill until the 1964 act? A. The Republicans.
  • Q. Which party created and defended Jim Crow for over 90 years? A. The Democrats.
  • Q. Which party fought every anti-lynching law introduced between the Civil War and 1964? A. The Democrats.
  • Q. Which party introduced segregation into the federal government? A. The Democrats, under Wilson.

Of course, truth doesn’t matter to the Lees and the NAACPs and the Wasserman-Schultzes of the world. In fact the truth is their enemy. If they ran on the truth, that election fraud is a real problem, they would have to admit that their party is the one that benefits from it. And if they ran in the next election on the truth of the Democrats’ record while in office… Well, it would make the Great Shellacking of 2010 look like a day at the beach by comparison.

Hence they’re left with nothing but the Big Lie, told often and loud and with total sincerity. As an expert (1) in the tactic once said:

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

But, back to Representative Lee and the question I put to you in the subject, the answer is “c) both.” She knows what she’s doing, playing the race card in an attempt to intimidate Republicans and scare Blacks and other minorities into voting Democrat, and, let’s be blunt, keep the door open for vote fraud. It’s part of a concerted Democratic strategy (2), which we’ll see played again and again between now and November, 2012.

But she’s also an idiot, because she apparently thinks stirring up ethnic animosities somehow helps the nation or even her constituents. Far from it. Every time they tell this Big Lie, they harm their country, their party, their constituents, and themselves.

And we need to confront them with the truth, every time they do it.

via Pirate’s Cove and Rhymes With Right.

RELATED: It probably won’t surprise you to know that Representative Lee is, at least through 2009, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. Here’s a little background on her.

Footnotes:
(1) Yeah, I went there. I’m not accusing Lee of being a Nazi, of course, but she seems awfully willing to use the totalitarians’ tactics.
(2) The other Big Lie, of course, is the class warfare card, which Obama made a cornerstone of his campaign in his openly Socialist speech last week in Osawatomie. That’s the only strategy the Democrats have left: scream and call names and hope no one notices their intellectual bankruptcy.

50 good reasons to forget about the danged birth certificate

April 28, 2011

Following up on yesterday’s post, here are the first ten:

  1. Obamacare
  2. Drill Here Drill Now
  3. High Taxes
  4. High Deficit
  5. Gun Control
  6. Unemployment
  7. China (owns) our arses
  8. Oil Prices are too high
  9. Lousy Relationship With Europe
  10. Appeasing Terrorists
  11. Protecting the Borders

Okay, that’s 11. So sue me. Be sure to read Jeff’s post for the rest.

I will disagree with him, however, that Obama’s education should be dropped. Not that I doubt the president’s education and want proof he really graduated, but I think it’s important to understanding him that we know what he studied and under whom. Who influenced him during his formative college years? Even though he now (for once in his life) has a public track record, a clearer understanding of his college days would prove useful.

Obama releases birth certificate: now can we get down to serious business?

April 27, 2011

The big news this morning is that President Obama has released his long-form Hawaiian birth certificate, perhaps (we hope) finally settling the (ridiculous) question of whether he was really born in the US and is thus a “natural born citizen,” qualified to be president. From CNN:

President Obama released his original birth certificate Wednesday, saying the controversy surrounding the issue had become a “sideshow.”

(…)

“We do not have time for this kind of silliness. We’ve got better stuff to do,” said Obama.

The surprise release follows recent and sustained remarks by businessman Donald Trump, among others, that raised doubts as to whether the president was born in the United States.

“Over the last two and half years, I have watched with amusement. I have been puzzled with the degree with which this thing just kept going,” Obama told reporters Wednesday.

I’m not sure which is more cynical or self-serving: that last statement of Obama’s or Donald Trump’s crow of victory and vindication:

Donald Trump, who helped drive questions over President Obama’s birth certificate, said the release Wednesday was a victory for him because he made the president act.

“I am really honored, frankly, to have played such a big role in hopefully, hopefully, getting rid of this issue,” he said, though he said more investigation has to be done. “Now we have to look at it, see is it real, is it proper.”

Oh, please. Let’s get one thing straight: the only reason Obama finally released the birth certificate was that Trump was gaining traction with his grandstanding charges and private investigators, and so withholding it no longer served Obama’s purpose.

Yes, you read that right. When a desperate Hillary Clinton campaign first made the allegations of foreign birth during the Democratic primaries, the Obama campaign realized they had a gold mine on their hands. By refusing to release it, they knew it was like waving a red flag in front of conspiracy-theorist bulls — they wouldn’t be able to resist.  Obama, Axelrod, Emanuel, Plouffe, and the rest knew they could use the Right-wing equivalent of 9/11 Truthers to tar legitimate opponents with the brush of lunacy, and they did just that. As William Jacobson wrote back in 2009:

Who are the primary beneficiaries of the conspiracy theory? Not the people pushing it; they remain on the fringe. Not the Republican party.

No, the primary beneficiary of the Obama birth certificate conspiracy theory is Obama. He is running the country into the ground at break-neck speed, but the conspiracy theory has handed Democratic operatives like Media Matters, Think Progress, and all the left-wing blogs which jump when the whistle blows, a great way of distracting the public from the damage being done.

(…)

So stop looking for the birth certificate, and start reading the health-care-reduction bill, the cap-and-tax fiasco bill, the unemployment numbers, the national debt and deficit analyses, and the latest Obama speech apologizing for who we are. And contact your Congressman and Senator and demand they read legislation, and give the public opportunity for comment, before they vote on it.

Well, two years later we now have the long-form certificate. Happy? Can we now get back to the serious matters of policy Professor Jacobson listed? Can we deal with real analysis of what shaped Obama’s character and political beliefs? Can we deal with the issues facing the nation with the seriousness they deserve(1)?

Barack Obama is on a fast-track to going down as one of the worst presidents of the last hundred years, and maybe even since the immortal trio of Fillmore, Pierce, and Buchanan. The birth-certificate controversy has been a sucker’s trap for the Right and the gift that keeps on giving for Obama. Now that he’s released the certificate, can we let it go and concentrate on the real work of getting rid of the man who wants to fundamentally transform America… into Greece?

Let’s hope so.

I can see dumb people

January 28, 2011

This was the sight I saw on a bridge over the San Diego Freeway on my way home from the market:

Some very stupid, pathetic people

…and…

Proof that a brain is not required to live

There were about a dozen or so of these paranoid morons on the bridge, holding up their signs and offering free DVDs of THE TRUTH!!1!1 to anyone unfortunate enough to cross their path. I’m surprised no one stopped to punch their lights out.

Here’s a message for the 9/11 Truther crowd, and I hope at least some of the mental giants on the bridge right now see this:

You people make me sick.

Your paranoid fantasies are a grotesque insult to the thousands who died that day, the President and all the members of the government who spent the next 7 years making sure that nightmare never happened again, and our entire nation. You are an embarrassment to us all. You make me feel unclean for even coming within 50 feet of you.

You people are sick.

Really. You need help, because you have obvious problems dealing with reality. It’s not uncommon with people who are frightened by a complex world; there’s so much comfort to be found in reducing everything that’s too much for your fragile minds, such as the idea that fire can melt steel, to simple conspiracies. It makes you feel powerful again, doesn’t it, because you know the truth? Well let me tell you the truth:

You are mentally ill, you nauseating wretches.

And this guy is probably your leader:

Now go away and go back to eating paint chips.

PS: Since this also goes out to my Twitter feed, if anyone reading this is sympathetic toward 9/11 Trutherism and follows me on Twitter, please unfollow me. Now. I don’t want to be dirtied by even the merest association with you.

Proof that a smart man can also be an idiot

November 14, 2010

I’ve always been a great fan of History and its handmaiden, Archeology. And, like so many History buffs, I have a strong interest in Ancient Egypt, whose civilization was old while my European ancestors were still living in crude villages.

So, it’s with some distress -though, sadly, with little surprise- that I learn that someone whose work I’ve admired, Dr. Zahi Hawass, a renowned archaeologist and an Egyptian vice-minister of culture, is a flaming antisemite. Just listen to his own words:

Transcript.

Anyone else get a “Peter Lorre” vibe from that weaselly host? The guy probably hangs around schoolyards.

Of course, it’s neither uncommon nor unique to Islam for intelligent, well-educated people to hold hateful, false beliefs. Many devout Nazis and Communists also held advanced degrees, and to this day one can find advocates of “Jewish conspiracy” theories in American academia.

But Islam takes antisemitism to whole new levels of respectability, hardwired as it is throughout the religion, including the Qur’an, itself. Dr. Hawass is just repeating what “everyone knows,” including from non-Islamic hate-tracts such as The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which was even displayed in an Egyptian museum alongside a Torah as a genuine work. What makes this even more disgusting, however, is that his position as an internationally respected scholar lends credence to these poisonous beliefs within the Islamic world.

In the clip, Dr. Hawass and his interviewer wonder how it is the Muslim world can exert less influence than a small Jewish nation. I suggest to the gentlemen that they begin their investigations with their own sick beliefs.

Truther mosque?

September 13, 2010

Well, isn’t that interesting? The Imam who wants to build a mosque community center rabat at Ground Zero in order to build bridges of understanding and religious tolerance is closely associated with an Islamic 9-11 Truther:

In his interview with CNN’s Soledad O’Brien on Wednesday, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf defended his plans to build a mosque and Islamic center near Ground Zero, saying “You cannot heal a trauma by walking away from it. We have to sit down. We have to talk about it. We have to dialogue about it and find a way to move through it and beyond it.”

But a trove of videos and writings available on the Internet shows that a longtime partner of Rauf believes the 9/11 terror attacks were “an inside job” by U.S. government and corporate interests, the Investigative Project on Terrorism found.

Faiz Khan, a physician who claims to have been a first responder after the September 11 attacks, is a founding member of the Muslim-Jewish-Christian Alliance for 9/11 Truth and is on the advisory board of the Muslims for 9/11 Truth. In an essay on the Alliance’s website, he argued that “the prime factor for the success of the criminal mission known as 9/11 did not come from the quarter known as ‘militant Islam’ although the phenomenon known as ‘militant Islamic networks’ may have played a partial role, or even a less than partial role – perhaps the role of patsy and scapegoat.”

Be sure to read the rest. The more that comes out about the background of those behind the project, the more I think it just isn’t going to happen.

Laredo Invasion: final nail in a myth’s coffin?

August 12, 2010

Bob Price of Texas GOP Vote has done the legwork that “journalist” Kimberly Dvorak and various credulous bloggers have refused to do regarding the “news” that Los Zetas, a vicious Mexican drug cartel, had taken over some US ranches near the border city of Laredo, Texas. He went and talked to the people supposedly involved, both from law enforcement and the ranchers. It’s a long entry, well-worth your time to read, but here’s an excerpt in reference to the police blotter Dvorak produced in her “scoop:”

The author of that story would have you believe this is proof that a ranch was taken over by the Zetas. This prompted further investigation. I was able to verify the authenticity of this message from my sources within the Laredo Police Department. It verifies there was actually a call for service to a ranch outside Laredo.

But, my prior investigation had already revealed a call for service occurred. So, what is a “call for service”. Well, it is exactly what it sounds like. In law enforcement terms it means a law enforcement agency received a phone call requesting assistance from the police (or sheriff’s department in this case). Nothing more. It does not mean that anything really happened. Only that someone called.

In this case, the call itself appears to be a hoax. I have spoken with the rancher who allegedly made the call and he denies it ever happened. For several reasons detailed below, I believe him. It appears, the call actually came from a café/store located in the vicinity of the ranch. The Sheriff’s department reacted to the call and found nothing happening out of normal daily life. Perhaps the call was a hoax? Perhaps it was a diversion to draw law enforcement resources to one area while drugs or human cargo were smuggled across in another area.

So, why was this story so believable by readers across the nation? What I found was perhaps more interesting than the alleged story itself.

First, I found nothing but cooperation from all law enforcement agencies working that region. I spoke with the “originating source” of the story, the Laredo Police Department. They talked openly and honestly with me for quite some time. They even said if we want to visit they will “roll out the red carpet.” I talked with the rancher who allegedly was forced off his land. He told me the first he heard of this was Monday morning when the FBI called him to ask what was going on at his ranch. He told them, and me, everything was normal. I have also learned his ranch is really of no strategic value to a drug cartel. The ranch is situated above a high cliff facing the river which would make a border crossing extremely difficult, at best. Nothing had happened. We talked for over 30 minutes about several issues regarding this and life around Laredo.

Emphases added.

In other words, and once again, there is no evidence whatsoever that anything at all occurred outside of Laredo. Dvorak and the others’ “evidence” amounts to a case of “I can’t reveal my sources, so trust me.” They rely on an implied conspiracy (“Why is the media not covering this? They must be part of the government cover up!”) worthy of the tinfoil hat crowd, something Bob Owens rightfully calls “Laredo Trutherism.”

Price then reports on the real violence, across the border in Nuevo Laredo, something that was mentioned in a slightly misleading FOX video (see update at the end of the post) that I’ve suspected as a possible seed for this modern myth. It’s the cartel war in Mexico that is the real news and a potentially real threat to our own security, not some fantasy about US territory being invaded.

Meanwhile, as far as I’m concerned, any credibility Ms. Dvorak or her allied bloggers may have had is gone. Until they can provide credible, independent sources willing to go on the record with some sort of physical evidence -video, police radio recordings, whatever- I can only regard them as nothing more than people in desperate need of attention.

RELATED: Two earlier posts about the Laredo invasion fantasy.

Laredo “invasion” nonsense rides again

August 11, 2010

Oh, for Pete’s sake. Pseudo-journalist Kimberly Dvorak, one of the parties pushing the original Laredo invasion fairytale as real news, is at it again, claiming she has evidence that:

“proves the alleged incident did in fact happen and that multiple agencies responded to the scene of a seized U.S. ranch.”

Her “evidence” is supposedly a screen capture of a Laredo PD police blotter that reads as follows:

“On Friday 7-23-10 Laredo Webb informed that their county SWAT Team is conducting an operation in the Mines Rd. area. According to LT. Garcia with LSO (Laredo Sheriff Office) received a call from a ranch owner stating that the Zetas had taken over his ranch. As per the 17 (reporting person) he informed them that they stated La Compania (area name for Zetas) was taking the ranch and no one was permitted on the ranch without permission. SO (Sheriff Office) will have an unmarked green Ford Taurus with two officers stationed at Los Compadres and a white Chevy Tahoe with two officers stationed at Mineral Rd. The LSO (Laredo Sheriff Office) will maintain surveillance in the area and advise if action is taken. Susp (suspect) Veh (vehicle) are described as a gray or silver Audi, a BLK (black) Escalade or Navigator and a van truck with a logo of a car wash spot free on the side. Border Patrol also has their response team on scene. Also known info of BMW’s and Corvettes entering and leaving the area. Auth LT Lichtenberger if assistance is requested LPD (Laredo Police Department) will secure the outer perimeter. (07/24/10 07:42:10 NR1873)”

Bob  Owens of Confederate Yankee has been all over this garbage from the start, and he returns to poke large holes in this new “evidence:”

Digger’s Realm is now trumpeting this as absolution, as is Mondo Frazier from Death by an Thousand Papercuts and Big Journalism.

They choose to believe that a generic computer screen, obtained by unrevealed sources, that cites neither the name or address of the ranch or the person making the call to law enforcement, proves their case.

The want us to believe that the police officers and sheriffs units that weren’t ID’d were deployed, and that the lack of any report of contact or observation by these unknown LEOs is justification for the claims that the various law enforcement agencies and named officials cited in the story who said it didn’t happen, are lying.

We still don’t have an address. We still don’t have a victim. We still don’t have anyone with any eyewitness accounts, or physical evidence that such an event took place.

I’ll add that, if any of the calls regarding this ranch takeover went over a radio, then some police-radio enthusiast in the area must’ve heard it. Why hasn’t that person come forward? And do Dvorak and the other people pushing this “news” really expect us to believe that national news services and all the regional news agencies, such as the Laredo Sun-Times, would ignore or suppress the biggest story of the year, one that’s happening on their doorsteps? Really? They’re all in on it?

If I want conspiracy theories, I’ll watch Three Days of the Condor, thanks.

What I wrote before still applies:

“…spreading unchecked rumors and relying on anonymous sources with no independent confirmation will only give the pro-illegal immigration crowd a large stick with which to beat border-security advocates and conservatives, in general. The situation there is bad enough without propagating falsehoods. If you are helping to spread this fairy tale, knock it off. Don’t just read and link or tweet about it: think about sources, follow the links back.

Read critically.”

Dvorak and anyone else peddling this rumor have absolutely no credibility and should either produce hard, verifiable proof or admit they’ve got nothing except a need to feed their own egos.

In other words, Ms. Dvorak, put up or shut up.

Qaddafi: World Cup a front for human trafficking

June 15, 2010

Well, I’m glad some foresightful leader has had the courage to stand up and denounce FIFA‘s role as the mastermind behind modern slavery:

I’m surprised though he didn’t mention the secret role played by the Jews and the Swiss as the secret masters behind the FIFA slavery operation. He must be setting a subtle trap for them.

Y’know, has anyone ever seen Daffy Qaddafi and Lyndon La Rouche in the same room at the same time? Just sayin’…  Thinking

The Machiavellian Clintons?

February 28, 2010

Are Bill and Hillary (and their vassals) deliberately trying to bring down Barack Obama and the Left wing of the Democratic Party? Tom Bowler at Pajamas Media thinks so, and he presents an interesting argument based on an odd inconsistency in the behavior of Bill, himself, and the writings and urgings former (?) Clintonistas:

It’s bizarre. Why does President Obama insist upon driving public option health care legislation through Congress when voter opposition to it is at an all-time high?

Unhappiness with Obama and the other leading Democrats is so high that a national tea party movement has virtually brought the Republicans back from the electoral grave. The president’s job approval numbers have been in a year-long slide. In almost every election since he took office, Democrats have gotten trounced.

Yet he continues to push extraordinarily unpopular policies. Could it be the advice he’s been getting?

In the face of this disastrous performance by President Obama and the Democrats, the Clinton team has been actively advising that they keep doing what they’re doing. It’s as if Bill Clinton has just discovered that his beloved party is firmly in the clutches of the extreme left, and he’s decided to encourage their leaders to drive themselves into the proverbial ditch.

First there’s the behavior of the former President himself: in 1994, in the wake of a crushing defeat in the midterm elections grounded largely in the public’s rejection of his own administration’ statist health care plan, Bill tacked to the Right and became a moderately successful centrist president. Yet, when the public is again rejecting a statist takeover of health care, Clinton pushes his party’s now far-Left leaders to go to ramming speed.

Then there are the actions of former top aides to the Clintons. Lanny Davis, the former President’s “fixer” during his sex scandals, has laid the groundwork for attacking the Progressives and a return toward centrism. James Carville pushes the administration and the congressional leadership to continue blaming George W. Bush for everything, a tactic the public has grown tired of and something that diminishes the credibility of those who use it. Meanwhile, others echo Bill Clinton by urging the Democrats to pass the health-care bill, even by using reconciliation, even though all polls show the public hates the idea.

Cui bono? To whose benefit is this? Bowler argues that the Clintons are baiting their rivals into a trap, paving the way for Hillary to run for President in 2012, when she can present herself as the moderate, pragmatic savior of the party, rescuing it from the demagogic clutches of Obama, Pelosi, and the hard Left.

Bowler may be right, though it sounds like something out of a political thriller novel. But there’s no doubting that Lady Macbeth Hillary wants desperately to be President, and that Bill himself wants to return to the center of power. He is one of the great players of Survivor: Politics Island, and this could be his way of getting back into the game. And don’t forget the revenge angle: during the last campaign, Team Obama beat Bill Clinton, effectively playing the race card against him and neutralizing his efforts for Hillary. Encouraging the progressives’ worst instincts as they head for that cliff might well be his form of payback.

And speaking of kooks

January 21, 2010

Hey, kids! Did you know that the movie Avatar is proof that the US was behind the 9/11 attacks? No, really:

Malaysia’s former premier Mahathir Mohamad said on Wednesday there was “strong evidence” the US faked the September 11 terror attacks as an excuse to go to war against Muslims.

“There is strong evidence that the attacks were staged. If they can make Avatar, they can make anything,’ Mahathir told the Conference for the Support of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), as quoted by local media.

The former premier also blamed Jews for hindering progress in US foreign policy. Voicing his disappointment that Barack Obama had not yet ended the war in Afghanistan or closed the US terror detention center at Guantanamo, he explained that “there are forces in the United States which prevent the president from doing some things. One of the forces is the Jewish lobby.”

Jews “had always been a problem in European countries. They had to be confined to ghettoes and periodically massacred. But still they remained, they thrived and they held whole governments to ransom,” Mahathir said.

“Even after their massacre by the Nazis of Germany, they survived to continue to be a source of even greater problems for the world.”

I’m surprised he didn’t close the circle by arguing that, since the Jews control Hollywood, Avatar is proof the Jews were behind 9/11.

And this loon was a national leader…

But maybe it’s not just him: Islamic supremacism and its attendant, virulent antisemitism seems to be a growing problem in Malaysia.

Dear Ron Paul: please go away

January 21, 2010

You’re not a conservative, you’re not a libertarian, you’re a kook. A crank. There are so many bats in your belfry it looks like a vampire convention. Do the Right and the Republicans a favor and go join some minor party that passes out tinfoil hats at their conventions.

Congressman Paul’s latest loony tune:

“There’s been a coup, have you heard? It’s the CIA coup. The CIA runs everything, they run the military. They’re the ones who are over there lobbing missiles and bombs on countries. … And of course the CIA is every bit as secretive as the Federal Reserve. … And yet think of the harm they have done since they were established after World War II. They are a government unto themselves. They’re in businesses, in drug businesses, they take out dictators … We need to take out the CIA.”

Maybe Ron Paul and Lyndon Larouche should run on a National Nutcase unity ticket.

This can’t be good

A White House so paranoid and nervous that they’re blaming their handpicked (and highly respected) general for the slowness of the surge deployment to Afghanistan?

The Blame Game – Part XXVI

“WASHINGTON — Senior White House advisers are frustrated by what they say is the Pentagon’s slow pace in deploying 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan and its inability to live up to an initial promise to have all of the forces in the country by next summer, senior administration officials said Friday. [snip]

One administration official said that the White House believed that top Pentagon and military officials misled them by promising to deploy the 30,000 additional troops by the summer. General McChrystal and some of his top aides have privately expressed anger at that accusation, saying that they are being held responsible for a pace of deployments they never thought was realistic, the official said.”

Ask yourself this: what possible motive would President Obama’s hand-picked general have for misleading the President about the pace of deployment to Afghanistan? There is none.

Now ask yourself what possible motive would the Obama administration would have for selling the public on a pace of military deployments that was unrealistic?

Yet we find administration sources accusing members of the United States military of lying to them in the pages of the New York Times. It’s more than tacky. More than dishnorable. It’s downright scary.

Yeah, you ain’t kidding. Click through to read also about the “speculation” that the intelligence community set Obama up to look bad by withholding information about the Pantybomber. Some of these guys must be wearing tinfoil hats:

Not that I think it’s impossible for elements of the intelligence community to sabotage an administration’s agenda, but typically this is done to conservative administrations. Witness all the leaks against the Bush policies, the controversy over the execrable Joe Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame, and the laughable 2007 National Intelligence Estimate that torpedoed Bush policy toward Iran and now is disavowed by the Obamatons.

In Obama the intelligence bureaucracy got the guy they wanted and, while they are very unhappy with Obama’s willingness to let his creature Holder torment them, the kinds of things they’re being accused of don’t fit the pattern.

And to accuse a well-regarded general of placing petty revenge ahead of the nation’s interests and his solders’ safety? Scary and crazy.

Sometimes I think Obama may be a replay of the worst of both Carter and Nixon.

Well, that’s good to know

There’s not a bit of evidence to prove that President Obama is a jihadi.

Whew. Whew

…The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy(tm), back and badder than ever, and out to get The One. Bill Clinton said so.

And Fausta has the video proof.

If the name fits

According to the National Affairs Adviser to Palestinian Authority President (and Holocaust denier) Mahmoud Abbas, the Jews are trafficking in organs harvested from Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers:

The facts show that Israel and its army are trafficking in the organs of Palestinians. There are documents to this effect. Why is Europe trying to stop this [from being exposed]?

“Why must the Palestinian people pay the price under occupation? Why must it be tortured and the organs of its martyred sons used for trafficking? This is the result of the [moral] bankruptcy of the U.S. and Europe and the cover they provide [Israel]. These countries must rise to their responsibility, if they are interested in making peace and reaching a settlement in the region.”

The name of this statesman? Omar al-Ghoul. I wonder if his official portrait was done by Richard Upton Pickman?

BACKGROUND: The organ-harvesting story started in a Swedish newspaper, Aftonbladet, the editor of which later admitted he had no evidence. He should work for the New York Times.
