Perry on Romney: this is how you do an attack ad

October 20, 2011

Yesterday, the Romney campaign issued an attack ad obviously questioning Rick Perry’s intelligence — and then quickly pulled it back when they realized it made their guy look like a jerk.

Today the Perry campaign issued their own ad attacking Romney, and it’s a good one:

Ouch! That’ll leave a mark.

Team Romney, take notes.

Now, if only Team Perry could get their guy to actually show up at debates…

President Zero

September 21, 2011

Here’s Rick Perry’s new campaign ad:

Good one, isn’t it? I’d say it’s up there with recent videos from Sarah Palin, which have also been excellent.

I love the contrast between the images of a rundown America and the president’s words — the crumbling Obama poster is a nice touch. And while most commenters I’ve seen have focused on the “President Zero” voice-over, to me the most effective moments come at a couple of points where one can just hear what sounds like an air-raid siren in the background, signalling “we’re in trouble.” And then comes a very effective transition to the images and words of Governor Perry, strongly projecting his own message of hope and change, something Obama can no longer run on… unless as a self-satire.

Well done!

New Pawlenty ad smacks Obama hard

August 9, 2011

And it stings so bad because it’s true and uses the President’s and his advisers’ own words to make Governor Pawlenty‘s case:

It’s a shame Pawlenty’s never caught on; aside from early stumbles over global warming and a flirtation with the individual mandate, he has a very creditable record as a conservative governor in a liberal state. I think he has a lot to offer… but I also think he’s done after Iowa.

Great ad, though.

“Gather your armies”

I don’t know what’s in the water in Alabama, but they have some of the best political ads, ever:

Nothing wishy-washy with those folks!
