Twisted society

From Mark Steyn:

This is a helluva story on some of the grislier consequences on the ChiComs’ (demographically disastrous) one-child laws:

  • A court in central China has sentenced a woman to death for hiring someone to strangle her 9-year-old son so she could have another child with her new husband without violating population laws, a court official and reports said Friday.

And this next sentence is headspinning:

  • Li initially received a death sentence suspended for two years because she had suffered from depression after having two abortions due to the rules against her bearing another child, the reports said. Such sentences are often commuted to life in prison.
  • But the higher court found that her depression was not directly related to her crime.

President-elect Obama’s appointee as "Climate Czar," Socialist Carol M. Browner, was head of the EPA when it was sued for racial discrimination:

According to a February 2001 report in TIME magazine, the EPA was plagued with “festering racial problems” during Browner’s time in charge. One African-American EPA employee, Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo, told TIME that she’d been passed over for promotions for being “too uppity,” adding, "We [African-American employees] were treated like Negroes, to use a polite term. We were put in our place.”

Coleman-Adebayo was later awarded $600,000 in damages in a settlement that found the EPA guilty of “discrimination and retaliation against whistle blowers.” Shortly thereafter, Congress passed the “No Fear” government whistle blower protection act in response to the Coleman-Adebayo v. Carol Browner decision.

So, let’s see… Emanuel (Blago), Clinton (pay for play), Holder (pardons), Geithner (Taxes, what taxes?), Richardson (kickbacks), Panetta (unqualified), and now Browner. And the press criticized McCain for supposedly not vetting Palin??

Time out

The 20 most-gerrymandered districts

January 16, 2009

Via Slate. It looks like a Rorschach test, only instead it’s political parties trying to game democracy and guarantee themselves safe seats. Schmucks. Phbbbttt

And the party distribution? 16 Democratic districts and just 4 Republican.

I’m shocked California’s laughable 23rd district didn’t make the list. Make that 17-4.
