    Dumb. You’re forgetting that the dems picked up a seat in the House. The governorships don’t matter when passing legislation in Congress.

      Given the Democrats’ existing majority in the House, one seat makes no difference. And, had Scozzafava been elected, the Democrats would still have gained a seat – she was to the Left of almost half the Ds in the New York State Assembly.

      And if you don’t think getting crushed in Virginia (a “symbol of the new Center-Left majority” after ’08, remember?), losing deep-Blue Jersey, and having Obama’s intervention count for nothing in those state races has the crucial moderate Democrats worried, think again.

      Those state races mattered a lot.
