Why do California unions hate children?

From Reason.TV, a short documentary about how unions blocked a bill in Sacramento that would have made an easily administered drug quickly available to children suffering from severe seizures:

I’m certainly no expert on the issue, but it’s hard for me to believe the unions’ objections outweigh the need for swift treatment of children in an emergency.

    As the parent of a young adult with epilepsy, I am outraged. Like strokes, every minute, almost every second, counts during a tonic-clonic seizure. This is absolutely unconscionable.

      Thanks for the perspective. I had a feeling the unions were way off-base on this. Hopefully they can find another route to make this drug quickly available.
