(Video) Does Free Speech offend you?

August 31, 2015

Yesterday I wrote about politically-correct silliness at Wesleyan University, head-shaking but largely harmless identity politics.

Today’s video, however, takes a look at a far grimmer trend at our colleges and universities: the assault on free speech in the name of not hurting anyone’s feelings.

What were once places of free inquiry and defenders of intellectual liberty are more and more becoming places where speech –and, by extension, thought– is controlled by a progressive “PC police.” The irony is rich, because it’s the intellectual descendants of the free speech movement of the Sixties who have become the new enemies of freedom of speech.

Meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss.

I’m sure Wesleyan University has offended someone by leaving a letter or two out

August 30, 2015
x

“Wait? Which letter am I?”

There have been plenty of silly moments in academia’s race to be offensive to none, inclusive of all, and apologizing to everyone for anything, but this really crosses into the realm of self-parody. Via Kat Timpf at National Review:

Weslyan University in Connecticut is now offering “LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM” housing, because apparently “LGBT” — or even “LGBTTQQ” — wouldn’t have been inclusive enough. For the culturally ignorant among us, “LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM” stands for “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, queer, questioning, flexual, asexual, genderf**k, polyamorous, bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, sadism/masochism.”

The name of this super-inclusive, social-justice-hero of a dorm is “Open House,” and it is meant to be a “safe space” for self-identified LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM students, according to the university’s official website.

In case your particular self-identification isn’t covered in that alphabet soup, Wesleyan assures you that your “sexually or gender dissident” lifestyle will still be welcome.

And probably have its own diversity counselor, pronouns, and safe rooms.

I wonder if a straight male student at Wesleyan could apply, claiming to be “sexually and gender-dissident” against the dominant LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM culture?

Nah. Too radical.

North Korea: Border Guards raided, purged for murdering Chinese?

August 29, 2015
Hungry?

Hungry?

If you’re Kim Jong Un, the Supreme Leader pudgy, alcoholic, and murderous dictator of North Korea, the world’s largest prison camp masquerading as a nation, the last thing you want to hear is that your soldiers have crossed the border into the territory of your one ally and murdered its citizens.

And when you do hear that, you bring the hammer down. Hard.

Scores of officers and rank-and-file soldiers from North Korea’s border guard unit have been rounded up and are under investigation by a special inspection team of the country’s Workers’ Party, following an incident earlier this year in which two of the guards crossed the border and killed two Chinese, sources inside the country said.

The team stormed the headquarters of the 25th brigade in the neighborhood of Yonbong 2 in Hyesan city of Yanggang province earlier this month, and arrested as many as 40 soldiers on the spot, said Hee-yun Doh, a representative of the Seoul-based Citizens’ Coalition for Human Rights of Abductees and North Korean Refugees, citing information from a local North Korean source.

Those arrested included the leader of the third platoon from the fourth company of second battalion and six staff sergeants, he said.

The head of the Border Guards was replaced after this incident (no word of him being executed in Kim’s usual creative manner), and three staff sergeants were quietly shot — pour encourager les autres, no doubt, for word inevitably got around. North Korea already had a problem with guards being open to bribery to let Koreans cross the Yalu to escape this hellhole (How bad do things have to be to make China look good? Shudder…); if they’re going around shooting people in China, too, well, that’s a problem of a whole other order of magnitude, as Beijing made very clear to Pyongyang.

But the reason they committed these murders should also worry Kim Jong Un:

It was not clear why the North Koreans crossed into the border area, but it is believed that they were trying to obtain food when they killed the two Chinese, according to reports.

In other words, the food situation in North Korea is so bad, Kim hasn’t enough to adequately feed the guys with guns, who are there to keep the rest of North Korea crushed underfoot.

Not good, from a North Korean dictator’s point of view.

Not that the Border Guards are likely to overthrow the government, but this shows Kim is starting to have to put the squeeze on the elites as there just isn’t enough food to go around. I’m willing to bet government officials allowed to live in Pyongyang get plenty, as well as the commanders of key military units and elite bodies of troops. But, if things get worse and reduced rations move (ahem) up the food chain, you can bet there will be grumbling among senior officers already worried about Kim’s predilection for executing people on a whim.

Hence the need to make an example, now.

Long ago, the Roman emperor Septimius Severus is reported to have told his sons, “Ignore everyone else, but take care of the Army.” He knew where the real power in Rome resided, and on whom the Emperor’s safety depended.

Kim, or at least his close advisers, likely knows that lesson, too, but whether he can do it is another question altogether.

Tales of the Nanny State: the war on lemonade stands resumes

August 28, 2015
x

“No charity allowed!”

Good thing, too, or Jerry Seinfeld’s kid might have gotten away with…. brace yourselves… selling unregulated lemonade to raise money for charity.

The horror:

If Jerry Seinfeld’s TV show were still in production, this surely could have been the basis for an episode.

A lemonade stand generating money for a charity run by the sometime East Hampton resident’s wife, Jessica Seinfeld, was shut down recently, apparently after an irritated neighbor complained to police, according to published reports.

(…)

In a second post Wednesday on Instagram she offered a picture of a story in the East Hampton Press, complimenting the paper about its coverage of their “outlaw lemonade stand.”

“People always talk about how kids today need to get back to the basics, and when [they] do, they change their mind”.

East Hampton Village Police were not immediately available for comment.

Reports say police closed the stand because it was in violation of a village ordinance and neighbors’ complaints of illegally parked cars.

Must be nice in East Hampton, if the biggest problem there is kids trying to raise money for struggling families in need of baby goods. Thank God the neighbors were there to bring down the law on these anarchists!

"Back away from the lemonade stand, NOW!"

“Back away from the lemonade stand, NOW!”

Seriously, I don’t blame the village cops; when someone made a complaint, they had to act. Police don’t get to pick and choose which laws they support. And people might complain that they were showing favoritism to the children of a popular star, if they did.

Nah, this is on the nosy neighbors, those heirs to Gladys Kravitz who form the “nanny society” that supports Nanny State.

Nice job, folks. smiley thumbs down

The Iraq War: Not Illegal, Not Immoral, and Not Over

August 27, 2015

I’ve said many times since 2003: I was a supporter of the liberation of Iraq, I remain so, and I still think it was justified given the strategic situation of those days, regardless of the mistakes under Bush during the occupation and reconstruction, or under Obama. I think you’ll find this post of interest.

James Snell

Today sees the publication of an entirely excellent article in The Times by Nigel Biggar, Regius Professor of Moral Theology at the University of Oxford. In it, the good professor takes apart a number of myths which have been allowed to coagulate about the 2003 invasion of Iraq and the toppling of Saddam Hussein, one of the most evil men in recent history whose autocratic (and kleptocratic) rule led to the foundation not just of ISIS – as if it was not enough – but the creation of much of Iraq’s current sectarian turmoil.

The ‘Cult’ of Climate Change (née Global Warming)

August 26, 2015

There’s a reason I refer global warming alarmists as “cultists” and their movement as the “Church of Anthropogenic Global Warming.” Click through for more.

Watts Up With That?

Guest essay by Ari.H.

Global warming has become a religioJosh-97-percent-littlesn. This is the opinion of Nobel Prize Winning Physicist Dr. Ivar Giaever , Prof. Richard Lindzen, and many others. Climate change alarmism has a surprising number of attributes of a medieval or even ancient religion. Nevertheless, real religions have some pre-requisites, like a tradition spanning at least few generations. So the proper name for climate alarmism is a cult. And these are the telltale attributes:

1) Climate alarmists pretend to possess indisputable truths about the past, present, and future. From minute details of the paleoclimate to the world state 200 years in the future, alarmists know everything.

2) The alarmist movement stubbornly refuses to debate its dogma, calling it “settled science” and viciously attacking its critics. The attacks are not limited to name calling but include prohibiting scientific research that contradicts this dogma. Significant figures within the movement…

Well, what do you know? Lois Lerner had a secret email account, too.

August 25, 2015
"The dog ate my Blackberry!"

“Toby Miles??”

Shades of former EPA administrator Lisa Jackson’s “Richard Windsor” account and Hillary Clinton’s off-the-books (and unsecured!) email server.

Is there anyone in the federal government who isn’t conducting official business on unofficial, off-the-record accounts with fake names?

Lois Lerner had yet another personal email account used to conduct some IRS business, the tax agency confirmed in a new court filing late Monday that further complicates the administration’s efforts to be transparent about Ms. Lerner’s actions during the tea party targeting scandal.

The admission came in an open-records lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a conservative public interest law firm that has sued to get a look at emails Ms. Lerner sent during the targeting.

IRS lawyer Geoffrey J. Klimas told the court that as the agency was putting together a set of documents to turn over to Judicial Watch, it realized Ms. Lerner had used yet another email account, in addition to her official one and another personal one already known to the agency.

“In addition to emails to or from an email account denominated ‘Lois G. Lerner‘ or ‘Lois Home,’ some emails responsive to Judicial Watch’s request may have been sent to or received from a personal email account denominated ‘Toby Miles,’” Mr. Klimas told Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, who is hearing the case.

It is unclear who Toby Miles is, but Mr. Klimas said the IRS has concluded that was “a personal email account used by Lerner.”

In case you don’t recall, Lerner was at the center of a scandal in which the IRS stood accused of harassing conservative and libertarian “Tea Party” groups organized as 501(c) non-profit groups. First her official work emails couldn’t be found, then it was claimed her hard drive had (conveniently) crashed, then backup tapes were lost or overwritten — until the Inspector General found them after looking for all of five minutes. Oh, and Lerner took the 5th, even though she has nothing to hide. (According to her.)

Naturally, this will set off a new round of court fights and delays as Judicial Watch (which really should get a fruit basket from House Republicans for doing their job for them) seeks access to those emails. The results should be interesting. Sure, they may be wholly innocuous messages, but, then, in that case…

Why the fake name? (1)

An increase in Noctilucent clouds, strange illuminated streamers of light at the edge of space, has been blamed on global warming.

According to the SFGate;

Mystery lights in space increasing, moving south, potential sign of global warming

Strange blue lights glowing on the edge of space first appeared over polar regions in 1885 and today, sightings are becoming increasingly common, and now the phenomenon is moving into lower latitudes including Northern California.

Like the proverbial canary in the coal mine, these glowing space clouds may be a celestial siren, warning of Earth’s global warming, according to some scientists.

Trigger Warning: History fans may experience multiple geekgasms

August 25, 2015

satire cat with popcorn

I predict I’m going to be spending a lot more time on YouTube in the days to come:

LONDON — The Associated Press and British Movietone, one of the world’s most comprehensive newsreel archives, are together bringing more than 1 million minutes of digitized film footage to YouTube. Showcasing the moments, people and events that shape the world, it will be the largest upload of historical news content on the video-sharing platform to date.

The two channels will act as a view-on-demand visual encyclopedia, offering a unique perspective on the most significant moments of modern history. Available for all to explore, the channels will also be powerful educational tools and a source of inspiration for history enthusiasts and documentary filmmakers.

The YouTube channels will include more than 550,000 video stories dating from 1895 to the present day. For example, viewers can see video from the San Francisco earthquake in 1906, exclusive footage of the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, Marilyn Monroe captured on film in London in the 1950s and Twiggy modeling the fashions of the 1960s.

I’ve only spent a few minutes browsing, and already I’ve found such gems as Mussolini promising peace in 1936 (if you listen carefully, you can almost hear Vladimir Putin) and silent footage from Pearl Harbor the day of the attack.

For fans of both history and 1950s-era “atomic horror” science fiction movies, here’s a treat: British Movietone footage of atomic bomb tests in Nevada, including the first film I’ve ever seen of an aerial bombing of a test site. Not sure what the opening shot of an accident aboard a carrier is there for, though:

No wonder Nevada looks the way it does…

Enjoy!

Well my, my, my. Has @HillaryClinton legally disqualified herself from office?

August 24, 2015
x

“Title 18…. wut?”

Might be one good reason why she’s been so reluctant to give a straight answer to simple questions, such as “Did you wipe the server, and, no, we don’t mean with a cloth?” Not only might she be criminally liable, but she may also be barred from ever holding office again, including the presidency.

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air cites the relevant law, Title 18, Section 2071, paragraph b:

Whoever, having the custody of any such record, proceeding, map, book, document, paper, or other thing, willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys the same, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States. As used in this subsection, the term “office” does not include the office held by any person as a retired officer of the Armed Forces of the United States.

Michael Mukasey, President Bush II’s former AG *and* a former federal judge is the one who raised this possibility. He is absolutely no legal slouch; if he thinks Hillary may have crossed this line, then her legal advisers probably worry so, too.

Ed’s right that legal prosecution to this extent isn’t likely –She is A CLINTON!!, after all, and would be the first female president ever, which is more important than anything else– but the judgement of the voting public is another matter, and you can expect conservative groups and candidates to use this to hammer her.

Good thing the Democrats have this man waiting in the wings:

Joe Biden

I mean, think about it. If Hillary falters, their other choice is a 73 year-old open Socialist and… who? Might as well go with the plagiarist who’s also a walking gaffe machine.

This should be good. smiley popcorn

(Video) What does it mean to be on the “Wrong Side of History”

August 24, 2015

For Praeger University, conservative columnist and author Jonah Goldberg takes a look at one of President Obama and the Left’s favorite expressions, “the wrong side of History,” and exposes it for what it is: a pseudo-scientific intellectual club carved from the tree of Marxism and meant to stifle debate and silence criticism.

If you want to look into this in more depth, Goldberg’s recent book “The Tyranny of Clichés” is invaluable.

Study: German Scientists Conclude 20th Century Warming “Nothing Unusual” …Foresee “Global Cooling Until 2080″!

August 23, 2015

We’ll probably be treated to the sight (again) of climate cultists protesting anthropogenic global warming… in a snowstorm.

NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

Another study shows that 20thC temperature rise is nothing unusual historically.

The Die kalte Sonne site here features a worrisome essay by German climate scientists Horst-Joachim Lüdecke, Dr. Alexander Hempelmann and Carl Otto Weiss. They carefully examined climate changes of the past and have found that the recent changes (of the last 40 years are nothing out of the ordinary and that we need to worry about a global cooling that will persist until 2080.

I will let readers make their own judgements. But I will pose a simple question, which warmists always shy away from:

What brought about the MWP and subsequently the LIA, not to mention previous cold and warm episodes.
Their usual answer is to deny they ever existed, but the evidence overwhelmingly shows that they did.

Only when we understand these events can we begin to understand recent warming.

Ten things you didn’t know were RAAAACIST, you racists

August 23, 2015

Liberal tolerance racist

I had already heard of the folderol over hoop skirts at the University of Georgia and how saying “the most qualified person should get the job” is a microaggression at my alma mater, but some on this list are new to me, and almost all are head-shakers. Below is my favorite. Did you know your favorite Thanksgiving food shows you’re a racist?

Liking white meat is racist. Writer Ron Rosenbaum said in Slate that racism accounts for the popularity of white-meat turkey over more flavorful dark meat. “White meat turkey has no taste,” he explained. “Despite its superior taste, dark meat has dark undertones for some. Dark meat seems to summon up ancient fears of contamination and miscegenation as opposed to the supposed superior purity of white meat.”

The deuce you say, Ron. I think this perhaps says more about the author and his possible fixations than anything about the attitudes of the diner. If I like both white and dark meat, does that make me enlightened, or do I have to actively denounce “white-meat privilege,” too?

Read the rest here, and laugh at the folly.

Claim: Global warming makes frost damage worse

August 22, 2015

Global warming: Is there nothing it cannot do?

Watts Up With That?

Crops_damage_frost

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

The Australian CSIRO has claimed that global warming increases both the incidence of frost, and the amount of damage frost causes to crops.

According to the CSIRO;

University of Queensland research scientist, Dr Jack Christopher, said climate modelling of 60 years’ worth of data has shown that while average temperatures have been increasing, the incidence and impact of frost has also increased during that period.

“One of the main factors causing that is the fact that the plants are actually growing a lot quicker in the warmer weather, so that when they’re planted at what we think is the correct time, they’re actually flowering too soon and are flowering during a much higher frost risk period than was intended,” he said.

Frost damage costs Australian agriculture millions of dollars each year due to reduced yield.

“On average, we’re losing around 10 per cent of the…

More on the French train attack

August 22, 2015

“Nice work.”

Just to clarify some items from yesterday, since first reports, as almost always, were wrong. There were three Americans involved in taking down the jihadi: one civilian, one Air Force, and one National Guardsman, who’d recently returned from Afghanistan. The report that they were Marines probably originated with the French, the usual fog and confusion in a crisis.

Regardless of their specific status, however, I think we can all agree these men are undeniable badasses:

A gunman opened fire on a high-speed train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris on Friday, wounding two people before three American passengers subdued him, according to officials and one of the Americans involved.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, speaking in Arras in northern France where the suspect was detained, said one of the American passengers was hospitalized with serious wounds.

Two of the Americans were in the military, according to their traveling companion and childhood friend Anthony Sadler, a senior at Sacramento State University. He told The Associated Press that the injured American was Spencer Stone of the Sacramento area and the other was Alek Skarlatos of Roseburg, Oregon.

“We heard a gunshot, and we heard glass breaking behind us, and saw a train employee sprint past us down the aisle,” Sadler said from France, describing the drama. Then, they saw a gunman entering the train car with an automatic rifle, he said.

“As he was cocking it to shoot it, Alek just yells, ‘Spencer, go!’ And Spencer runs down the aisle,” Sadler said. “Spencer makes first contact, he tackles the guy, Alek wrestles the gun away from him, and the gunman pulls out a box cutter and slices Spencer a few times. And the three of us beat him until he was unconscious.”

Another passenger helped tie the gunman up, and Stone then helped another passenger who had been wounded in the throat and losing blood, Sadler said.

“The gunman never said a word,” he added.

The Pentagon described Stone’s injuries as not life-threatening.

This should also serve as a reminder that the jihad, their war on us, hasn’t ended, and that any place at any time could become a battlefield.

They’re still trying to kill us.

All in a day’s work: US Marines take down AK-wielding gunman in French railroad station. Update: one Marine in critical

August 21, 2015

Marine Corp emblem

I’m sure the unidentified would-be mass murderer (1) had the plan all worked out in his mind: Obtain automatic weapon, sneak it onto the Paris-Amsterdam train, and kill lots of people. Simple, right? But there was one small thing he didn’t account for…

The presence of US Marines on the same train:

La Voix du Nord, a newspaper in the Calais region, said a man was arrested on suspicion of firing the [Kalashnikov] on a Thalys train near the northern town of Arras.

Police say that have not ruled out terrorism as a possible motive and Bernard Cazeneuve, the French interior minister, has been summoned to the region.

The gunman, said to be of “North African origin,” is said to have been “taken down” by a group of US marines onboard the train.

(…)

According to Voix du Nord, the marines heard what appeared to be the sound of a gun being loaded coming from the toilets on the train.

They tried to detain him and the man fired, wounding three people, two of whom were struck by bullets, the newspaper reported.

Rather than freeze or run and hide, the Marines’ training kicked in and they “ran to the sound of the guns,” thus probably saving many, many lives. And remember, the three Marines were unarmed, while the jih… er… unidentified gunman had an AK. That was not a fair fight.

For the gunman.

via Mark Krikorian

Footnote:
(1) I have my suspicions as to his identity, as I’m sure you do, but I’ll wait for confirmation.

UPDATE: From the Daily Mail via Rick Moran, the shooter was a Moroccan national known to French authorities and who had attended radical mosques. I think it’s safe to say it, now: This was another attempt at jihad — Islamic terrorism waged fi sabil Allah, for Allah’s sake.

Initial reports indicated three Marines confronted the jihadi; according to the Mail, there were two. Regardless, the sad news is that one is in critical condition.

One of the hero Marines who foiled a planned terror attack on a French train was fighting for his life after being shot in the neck while disarming the crazed gunman on Friday.

The two unarmed servicemen spotted the 26-year-old Moroccan acting suspiciously and heard him trying to arm his weapon in the toilet of the high speed train between Amsterdam and Paris.

The gunman got on the train in Brussels and attempted his attack soon after crossing the French border.

The 26-year-old Moroccan national, who was known to security services, came out of the toilet brandishing the gun and opened fire. Fortunately, two US Marines were nearby and overpowered him before he could massacre passengers.

The suspected terrorist had at least nine full magazines of ammunition holding almost 300 rounds. He was also carrying a knife.

Unfortunately, one of the Marines was shot and is believed to be in a critical condition. It is feared that he was shot in the neck by the gunman.

The French Interior Minister was unstinting in his praise:

Speaking in Arras, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve praised the Marines for their timely intervention.

He said: ‘Thanks to them we have averted a drama.
‘(The Americans were) particularly courageous and showed extreme bravery in extremely difficult circumstances.’

They would probably say they were just doing their jobs.

According to an NPR(*not a typo) report, federal authorities may be getting ready to step up their “inquiry” into Hillary Clinton’s “unique email arrangement” (as Trey Gowdy habitually puts it.)

“I think that the FBI will be moving with all deliberate speed to determine whether there were serious breaches of national security here,” said Ron Hosko, who used to lead the FBI’s criminal investigative division.

He said agents will direct their questions not just at Clinton, but also her close associates at the State Department and beyond.

“I would want to know how did this occur to begin with, who knew, who approved,” Hosko said.

Authorities are asking whether Clinton or her aides mishandled secrets about the Benghazi attacks and other subjects by corresponding about them in emails.

Why is Clinton emphasizing the idea that none of those messages were marked? Because what she knew — her intent…

Peer review is broken – Springer announces 64 papers retracted due to fake reviews

August 19, 2015

Remember this when someone tries to tell the “science is settled” regarding global warming or anything else. It is, if it’s been faked.

Watts Up With That?

peerreview[1]Science publishing giant Springer, with over 2900 journals, has announced on its website that 64 articles published in 10 of its journals are being retracted.  Editorial staff found evidence of fake email addresses for peer reviewers.
No word yet on what type of papers, or if any climate papers are involved.

From press release:

Retraction of articles from Springer journals

London | Heidelberg, 18 August 2015

Springer confirms that 64 articles are being retracted from 10 Springer subscription journals, after editorial checks spotted fake email addresses, and subsequent internal investigations uncovered fabricated peer review reports. After a thorough investigation we have strong reason to believe that the peer review process on these 64 articles was compromised. We reported this to the Committee on Publishing Ethics (COPE) immediately. Attempts to manipulate peer review have affected journals across a number of publishers as detailed by COPE in their December 2014 statement. Springer has…

Planned Parenthood: the baby was still alive when they took its brain

August 19, 2015
Republican insiders "help" Paul Ryan

Medieval Planned Parenthood staff in action

Utter ghoulishness:

The organization that has released six videos exposing the scandal of Planned Parenthood selling aborted babies and their body parts has released a new undercover video today with another shocking discovery. This latest video catches the nation’s biggest abortion business harvesting the brain of an aborted baby who was still alive.

The video features Holly O’Donnell, a licensed phlebotomist who unsuspectingly took a job as a “procurement technician” at the fetal tissue company and biotech start-up StemExpress in late 2012. That’s the company that acts as a middleman and purchases the body parts of aborted babies from Planned Parenthood to sell to research universities and other places. StemExpress was partnered with Planned Parenthood up until last week, when it quietly announced it ended its relationship with the abortion corporation.

The new video includes O’Donnell’s eyewitness narrative of the daily practice of fetal body parts harvesting in Planned Parenthood abortion clinics. She tells the harrowing story of harvesting an intact brain from a late-term male unborn baby whose heart was still beating after the abortion.

O’Donnell describes the harvesting, or “procurement,” of organs from a nearly intact late-term baby aborted at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s Alameda clinic in San Jose, California.

“‘I want to see something kind of cool,’” O’Donnell says her supervisor asked her. “And she just taps the heart, and it starts beating. And I’m sitting here and I’m looking at this fetus, and its heart is beating, and I don’t know what to think.”

I can’t wait for the tortured explanations from Planned Parenthood’s apologists, which inevitably include some variation on the “War on Women” distraction. And, don’t worry, California’s Attorney General (and likely next federal senator) Kamala Harris (D) has sworn to investigate this atrocity. What, you think she means to investigate Planned Parenthood and its possibly illegal traffic in baby organs? Perish the thought! No, she going to go after the real criminals — the people who exposed this traffic in death.

Go read the whole thing; there’s also a video you can watch, if you have the stomach for it. Like I said earlier today on Twitter:

I’m not sure that Planned Parenthood has violated any laws, but I suspect strongly they’re broken several, including those related to organ harvesting, their transportation, their sale, partial-birth abortion (during the harvesting), and the treatment of infants that have survived abortion — i.e., born alive. And if this news is any indication, we may be looking at murder, too. I’ll leave that up to investigators, who I hope are finally getting off their rears to launch criminal inquiries.

Let me leave you with one last quote from the first article:

O’Donnell also tells how her StemExpress supervisor instructed her to cut through the face of the fetus in order to get the brain.

“I can’t even describe what that feels like,” she says.

Somewhere in Hell, Dr. Mengele smiles.

PS: I’m not an anti-abortion absolutist. The health of the mother, for one thing, may require an abortion. But I should like to think even the most ardent defender of the pro-abortion position can agree that something abominable is happening at Planned Parenthood. Something that needs to be stopped.

100 Years Ago: The First Allied Victory of World War I

August 19, 2015

Nice post by Mr. Schindler about a forgotten 101-year old battle in World War I. My recent reading has me convinced that the Austro-Hungarian high command was headed by lobotomy survivors.

The XX Committee

[This is the beginning of a new blog series, 100 Years Ago, I’ll be posting to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.]

Exactly a century ago today, on 19 August 1914, Austria-Hungary suffered a shocking battlefield defeat at the hands of Serbia, delivering the Allies their first victory of the Great War. This unexpected defeat occurred in the mountains of northwest Serbia, with Austro-Hungarians forces sent back into Bosnia in a ragtag state after suffering a sharp local setback that quickly unraveled the entire Habsburg invasion of Serbia.

Vienna invaded “Dog Serbia” in mid-August to avenge the murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Belgrade-backed assassins in Sarajevo on 28 June.
