(Video) Why are there still Palestinian refugees?

May 2, 2016

It’s not because of Israel, one of the most inclusive societies on Earth. Instead, as Dumisani Washington explains in the Prager University video, the Palestinian refugees still exist after three generations because they are politically useful to the Arab states, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) needs them to justify their continued existence — and their billion dollar budget. Washington contrasts the Palestinian refugees with the 850,000 Jews expelled by Arab and other Islamic countries in 1948-49, a largely forgotten event, and absorbed by Israel to become productive members of society — with no UN help whatsoever.

(Video) Egyptian TV host and academic: the only solution is to burn the Jews

November 1, 2015

Remember kids, Jew-hatred is hardwired into Islam through its holy texts: the Qur’an, the hadiths (the sayings and deeds of Muhammad and his companions), and the learned commentary that’s accumulated over the last 1,400 years. Thus it shouldn’t really surprise us, even when it appalls us, to hear this on Egypt’s Al-Rhama TV, an Islamic religious channel there:

Here’s the transcript:

In a recent TV interview, host Dr. Muhammad Khaled and his guest, Islamic history professor Yusri Ahmad Zidan, agreed that burning was the “only solution” for the Jews. “The history of the Jews has been black since the dawn of time,” said Khaled. “Nebuchadnezzar burned them, the Crusaders burned them, and even Hitler and Nazism burned them. Is burning the only solution for the Jews?” he asked. “So it seems. So it seems,” Zidan concurred. The interview aired on the Egyptian Rahma TV channel on October 27, 2015.

Following are excerpts:

Yusri Ahmad Zidan: The Crusaders killed the Jews as well. They rounded them up in a house of worship, and burned it down. All the Jews who survived were sold.

TV host Dr. Muhammad Khaled: As slaves?

Yusri Ahmad Zidan: Every 30 Jews were sold for one dinar.

TV host Dr. Muhammad Khaled: That’s right.

Yusri Ahmad Zidan: The Crusaders sold the Jews who were saved from being killed. In that period, Jerusalem was left without Jews, of course.

TV host Dr. Muhammad Khaled: This is a trivial price, but obviously, that was what they were worth.

Yusri Ahmad Zidan: They treated them this way because they believed that the Jews had killed Jesus. The Crusaders treated the Jews this way because they believed that the Jews had harmed and killed Jesus.

TV host Dr. Muhammad Khaled: Dr. Zidan, the history of the Jews has been black since the dawn of time. Nebuchadnezzar burned them, the Crusaders burned them, and even Hitler and Nazism burned them. Is burning the only solution for the Jews?

Yusri Ahmad Zidan: So it seems. So it seems.

TV host Dr. Muhammad Khaled: No negotiations, coexistence, or anything…

Yusri Ahmad Zidan: It’s impossible.

TV host Dr. Muhammad Khaled: History tells us that they were burned time and again, taken into captivity time and again, and sold into slavery.

In other words, on a TV channel devoted to Islam and in a discussion with a learned doctor of Islamic History, the serious consideration of burning as being the “only solution” to the Jews was an acceptable topic. In Egypt, a “mainstream” Muslim-dominated country.

The only difference between these two and ISIS is that ISIS is acting on their beliefs.

(Video) Such lovely people. Let’s give them their own state, shall we?

If you ever wonder why the Palestinians aren’t fit to join the community of nations, just watch what their elites say on their television channels.

The first video is from the invaluable MEMRI. In it, a Dean of Quranic Studies at Gaza University, in other words, an expert on just what is and is not permissible in Islam, declares openly that is is halal (permitted) to kill Jewish women and children:

And yet some people have been surprised by the spate of knife attacks against Israelis.

Next is Sheikh Khaled Al-Mughrabi, who teaches Islam twice a week at the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, one of the holiest sites in Islam. In other words, his words carry some weight with believers. Per PalWatch, the Sheikh has a message for us: That the end of days cannot come until the Jews build a temple to the Devil inside the mosque, at which point the Muslims will kill all the Jews.

Are we all clear on that, now?

The only difference between the Palestinian elites and the ISIS leadership in one of degree, not of kind.

Europe has an antisemitism problem. A big one.

May 2, 2015
Never again?

Never again?

Synagogue attacks, graveyard desecrations, kidnap and torture, massacres in markets, and now mob assaults:

Two Jewish residents of Paris were assaulted on the street by a gang of about 40 people on Friday, Israeli French JSS News reported on Friday.

The attack against the two Jewish residents, both in their 20s, occurred about 2:30 p.m. on Boulevard Voltaire in Paris’ 11 arrondissement, according to the report.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and warned local Jewish businesses owners to be extra vigilant, JSS News said.

Witnesses on the scene said members of the Jewish community volunteered to watch over the many local Jewish businesses on Boulevard Voltaire, according to French antisemitism watchdog group the Bureau National de Vigilance Contre l’Antisemitisme.

The gang of attackers were associated with anti-Israel groups Gaza Firm and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign, said security personnel responsible for protecting the Jewish community.

One has to wonder how long the Jews will choose to remain, out of sheer self-preservation?

(Video) Don’t judge Blacks differently

April 27, 2015

From Prager University, this was made in the wake of the Ferguson riots, but has sharpened relevance after the latest disturbances in Baltimore. Of particular note is Ms. Valdary’s argument that those who hold Blacks to a lower standard are themselves engaging in bigotry(1), no matter how well-meaning they are. Also infuriating is her classmate’s insistence (and the instructor’s agreement) that facts —objective truth— don’t matter; only the narrative. Down that road lies fascism.

Footnote:
(1) She uses the word “racism,” but I prefer to avoid it, since “race” is a biologically meaningless concept that has its roots in 19th-century pseudoscience. In my opinion, it obfuscates more than it enlightens.

Breaking: Paris massacre caused by shape-shifting Jews looking to frame Muslims

January 13, 2015

satire tinfoilhat conspiracy

But, of course:

He also called the Paris terrorist attacks “un complot,” or conspiracy, and launched into a lengthy explanation of the “magical Jews” behind it. They were not ordinary Jews, he said, but a “hybrid race of shape shifters” who have extraordinary abilities. “They know how to get in everywhere,” he said. “They are master manipulators.”

Oh, those wacky Jews! I wish I had their cool powers!

Bearing in mind that this Great Thinker is also a self-confessed drug-dealer,we might be inclined to write his theory off as the ravings of a nut-job. And, in fact I wouldn’t be surprised to learn he’s been sampling his own wares a bit too much.

However, it’s also true that Arab Islamic society loves conspiracy theories, since it lets the believer take the role of the victim and avoid facing the real pathologies (self-)afflicting his or her world. For example, did you know Jews can cause earthquakes, or that the Protocols of the Elders of Zion are works of science?  And this is not a recent development: Jew-hatred is common in the Qur’an, Islam’s foundational text. As the late Sheikh Tantawi, former Grand Mufti of Egypt and head of al-Azhar university (in other words, a deep scholar of Islam) wrote:

[The] Qur’an describes the Jews with their own particular degenerate characteristics, i.e. killing the prophets of Allah, corrupting His words by putting them in the wrong places, consuming the people’s wealth frivolously, refusal to distance themselves from the evil they do, and other ugly characteristics caused by their deep-rooted lasciviousness…only a minority of the Jews keep their word….[A]ll Jews are not the same. The good ones become Muslims, the bad ones do not. (Qur’an 3:113)

You can read the rest in a long, but worthwhile dissertation on Islamic antisemitism here, or just buy the book. With thousands of years of tradition and orthodox theology lending their approval, is it any wonder it’s so easy to blame the Jews for anything, no matter how nutty?

Even when killers shout “Allahu akbar!” and “We have avenged The Prophet!” or train with al-Qaeda in Yemen.

PS: Yes, I know we have our own conspiracy nuts. Try searching “fire can’t melt steel” sometime. But, thankfully, these freaks are far less common here, though still dang annoying. In the Arab Islamic societies of the Middle East, on the other hand…

Conspiracy Craziness: John McCain created ISIS, and the “Caliph” is a Jewish agent

December 13, 2014

tinfoilhat_thumb.jpg

We’ve long known of the Muslim world’s fetish for conspiracy theories, but this one is a real gem. On an Egyptian television show last November, Jamal al-Din Ibrahim (1) claimed that the Islamic State was a creation of John McCain and that its leader, the “Caliph” Abu-Bakar al-Baghdadi, was trained by Mossad. And, if that wasn’t enough, he involved British Intelligence (an old bugbear among Middle Eastern conspiracy fans) and American traitor Edward Snowden.

Professor or not, Mr. al-Din is an expert in nuttiness:

Here’s an excerpt from the transcript:

Jamal Al-Din Ibrahim: ISIS has two meaning – an over meaning and the true meaning. On the face of it, ISIS means “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.”

Interviewer: This is how they called it at the beginning.

Jamal Al-Din Ibrahim: Yet the same acronym can stand for “Israeli Secret Intelligence Service.”

[…]

This information comes from Edward Snowden, who is now a wanted man…

Interviewer: That’s the guy from the NSA…

Jamal Al-Din Ibrahim: Exactly. He said that this was a means to drag the Arab world into a quagmire, and at the same time, to get rid of all the terrorists in a clever way, in keeping with the ways of British intelligence.

…and…

This is a picture of Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, right? That’s his picture with John McCain, right?

Interviewer: Exactly. Oh my!

Jamal Al-Din Ibrahim: And that’s his picture with various Arab organizations… Isn’t that his assistant, Muhammad Noor?

Interviewer: Yes, on the right.

Jamal Al-Din Ibrahim: Show us the previous picture again. There’s something fishy there. That’s his meeting with John McCain.

Interviewer: Yes, from about two years ago.

Jamal Al-Din Ibrahim: The guy with the camera is [Baghdadi’s] assistant, Muhammad Noor.

Interviewer: Right.

Jamal Al-Din Ibrahim: This proves that John McCain was establishing ISIS two years ago, when the Syrian revolution started. That’s him over there. ISIS leader, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi…

There are many annoying things about Senator McCain, but, somehow, I don’t think establishing a head-chopping Islamic revival movement is among them.

Sadly, this kind of thinking is all too common in the Muslim world, which wallows in a blame-others victim-hood.

Michael Tomasky’s raging progressive bigotry

December 8, 2014
Chattanooga VW workers, per MSNBC

Michael Tomasky’s South

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the worst reactionary bigots I’ve ever met have all been on the Left. Case in point:

I’d never heard of Michael Tomasky before this morning, when my feed reader was suddenly full of commentary about his anti-South screed at The Daily Beast. Apparently the recent disaster the Democrats suffered in the midterm elections set him to boiling, and Mary Landrieu’s defeat over the weekend in the Louisiana runoff blew the lid off:

Practically the whole region has rejected nearly everything that’s good about this country and has become just one big nuclear waste site of choleric, and extremely racialized, resentment. A fact made even sadder because on the whole they’re such nice people! (I truly mean that.)

With Landrieu’s departure, the Democrats will have no more senators from the Deep South, and I say good. Forget about it. Forget about the whole fetid place. Write it off. Let the GOP have it and run it and turn it into Free-Market Jesus Paradise. The Democrats don’t need it anyway.

“They’re such nice people, but I really hate their guts!”

Mikey then goes on to say there are some parts of the South the Democrats really do need, but, for the rest, he wishes secession had succeeded, because they just aren’t real Americans down there.

Yeesh. Look, Mike. I know the election was hard on you. From Texas to the Atlantic, there is now only one Democratic statewide officeholder in the Old Confederacy. Landrieu lost a seat the Democrats held since I think the 1870s (1). Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think every state legislature in the South is now in Republican hands, too.

I get it. This is tough on you. It can’t be easy being rejected when you’re so cock-sure of your own side’s intellectual and moral superiority. I only hope you didn’t smash the keyboard while writing your tirade.

I’d like to think the election results would have lead you and your fellow progressives to reflect on why you lost so badly in that part of the country. What policies lead to your rejection? What was it about what the Democrats were offering that made so many say “no, thanks?”

But, no. You and so many like you in the progressive commentariat already know the answer, no self-reflection needed: “They’re all a bunch of mouth-breathing Jesus-fetishists who just don’t know what’s good for them, so we should just tell them to go to Hell!”

If that’s the case, Mike, how do you explain Colorado and Iowa, where Republicans won the Senate races? Or New Mexico and Nevada, where Latino Republicans won reelection for governor? Or deep-Blue Maryland and Massachusetts, where Republicans also won the elections for governor? I’ve never been to Maryland, but I know it ain’t a “Free-Market Jesus Paradise.”

If you want to find the real bigot suffering from “choleric resentment,” Mike, try looking in the mirror.

Footnote:
(1) You know, when Reconstruction ended and the Democrats returned to power, using Jim Crow laws and their allied terrorist groups, such as the KKK, to make sure Blacks could never vote Republican — or often not at all. There’s a good book on all that and more.

RELATED: Also writing on this are Jonah Goldberg, Charles Cooke, and Noah Rothman.

Correction: When I wrote “only one Democratic statewide officeholder,” I was thinking of Governor McAuliffe in Virginia. I forgot about Senator Nelson in Florida. Still, the party is almost extinct in statewide offices.

(Video) Who are the real racists: liberals or conservatives?

October 27, 2014

Liberal tolerance racist

If you’re a conservative, or just someone who thinks everyone should be treated equally, you’ve probably been called a racist at one point or another. And if, like most people, you’re a decent person, you’ve probably been taken aback and left wondering if maybe, subconsciously, you did hold beliefs and attitudes that were racist.

Stop wondering. You’re not. In fact, as Derryck Green of Project 21 explains in this Prager University video, it’s the American Left that harbors the racist attitudes, rooted in the assumption that Blacks just can’t compete, the infamous “soft bigotry of low expectations:”

So, relax. You’re not racist for believing we can all be held to the same standards. Far from it.

Why do Democrats fight voter ID?

October 20, 2014
"I get to vote twice? Gee, thanks, pal!"

“No ID needed? Gee, thanks, pal!”

Writing at PJ Media, former DoJ election law attorney J. Christian Adams argues that it isn’t so much because they want to cheat (1), but that there are other, more subtle reasons. He describes three. Read the article for the first and the last, but I want to highlight the second:

2. Voter ID Opponents Have the Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations.

Leftist opponents of voter ID truly think minorities are less able to function in American life. I learned this when a Department of Justice Voting Section lawyer opposed to voter ID told me he thought blacks were more likely to forget their photo identification than whites were. Their lives “were more disorganized,” he said. This is a lawyer currently still working in the Civil Rights Division at the Justice Department. This is a perfect example of the “soft bigotry of low expectations.”

And it isn’t just one crank lawyer at DOJ. The plaintiffs challenging voter ID and election integrity laws actually hired an expert to testify in federal court in voter ID cases that blacks were less capable of functioning efficiently in a daily routine and photo ID laws have a disparate impact on them. The expert called this idea the “calculus of voting.” For example, they have to take the bus more. Taking the bus, naturally, makes it harder to get photo ID.

The plaintiffs argue that voting “is largely a product of habit,” and blacks, well, their habits just don’t brook any interruptions to their habits, so they argue.

This is another perfect example of the “soft bigotry of low expectations.” Opponents of voter ID are genuinely afraid that forcing blacks to get photo ID will impose a burden on them they just can’t handle.

This is a subset of the Progressive belief that modern society is too complex for the average person to handle, and so we need (in the early 20th century formulation) boards of experts to run the economy and manage social relations for us. Hence the Democrats’ eagerness, which has infected many Republicans, to hand off legislative functions to administrative agencies run by supposedly expert bureaucrats.

What Adams describes, though, is essential to the victim-culture that pervades the Left. Blacks and other minorities have so suffered from both blatant and structural racism that they simply can’t overcome life’s obstacles on their own, so they have to be excused from what would otherwise be a reasonable requirement. Never mind that one has to show an ID to write a check or board a plane.

It’s also blatantly patronizing and offensive toward minorities.

RELATED: Mr. Adams has written a book exposing the blatant racialism at the Justice Department, including its battle against voter ID laws. Also, for the dirty history of the Democratic Party on race, be sure to read “Wrong on Race.”

Footnote:
(1) Here’s I’ll disagree with Mr. Adams a bit. John Fund has written an excellent book on (mostly) Democratic election fraud, and the conviction of ACORN in Nevada, the probably fraud in the 2004 Washington gubernatorial election, and the confirmed fraud in the 2004 presidential balloting in Milwaukee all show that at least some Democrats and their allies on the left have a strong interest in benefiting from fraud.

First a master race, now a master faith

September 19, 2014

Sympatico

Sympatico

Via Jihad Watch, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describes clearly the intellectual parallel between a certain mid-20th century totalitarianism and Islamic supremacism:

In a speech on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu compared Islamist terrorist groups such as ISIS, Hamas and Hezbollah to Nazis: “We know this. We’ve seen this before. There’s a master race; now there’s a master faith.”

“The tactics are uniform. Terror first of all against your own people,” Netanyahu told attendees at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism’s (ICT) 14th annual conference held at Herzliya, an Israeli technology center located about six miles north of Tel Aviv.

“There’s a master race; now there’s a master faith. And that allows you to do anything to anyone, but first of all to your own people and then to everyone else,” Netanyahu continued, in a reference to Nazi ideology stemming from Adolf Hitler’s belief, detailed in his speeches and writings, that Aryans were the “master race.”

“And what do you do to everyone else? For that you use new techniques. And the new techniques involve first of all, taking over civilian populations, putting yourself inside civilian areas, contravening the laws of war and the Geneva Convention; using your people as human shields, the same people you execute; and then firing indiscriminately at civilians. You hide behind civilians, you fire on civilians. And you fire rockets and missiles.

And then he touches on the essential moral difference between Western civilization and that of the jihadists:

“All of Israel mourned on September 11th. In Gaza, they were dancing on the roofs. They were handing out candy,” Netanyahu said. “That’s the moral divide. We mourn; they celebrate the death of thousands of innocents.

Netanyahu’s analysis is similar to the argument made by Natan Sharansky in his “The Case for Democracy:” that there is a fundamental divide between free societies, largely those of the West, and fear societies, such as those wherever sharia rules. Sharansky calls on leaders to have the moral clarity to see the difference between the two, and the moral courage to act accordingly.

Would that all Western leaders had the moral clarity of Mr. Netanyahu.

PS: The photo, by the way, is of Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and a virulent hater of Jews. He and Hitler got along quite swimmingly, and the Husseini even organized Islamic auxiliary troops for the Nazis in the Balkans. He was also Yasser Arafat’s uncle. Wonderful family.

Video: Pat Condell on “Why I support Israel”

July 27, 2014

This is from last June, but, given current events in the Levant, Pat’s words are still relevant. He certainly speaks for me:

In the Washington Free Beacon, Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes (whom we’ve met before) is quoted as saying the administration is seeking “a common place” between Israel and Hamas to “stop the violence.”

Try as I might, I’m having a real hard time imagining a “common place” between one side that says “I want to live in peace with you” and another that says “I want you dead.”

Afterthought: “Stop the violence” is one of those mealy-mouthed phrases that bug the heck out of me. By not assigning responsibility, it declares everyone to blame and places the Israelis on the same moral level as their Muslim attackers, which is utter tripe. Hamas started this fight by firing rockets at civilians and even a nuclear reactor. Theirs is the responsibility, theirs is the blame, and there is no moral equivalence between the two. You want to “stop the violence,” Mr. Rhodes? Then disarm Hamas.

By The Way: And speaking of disarming Hamas, the latest ceasefire proposal from Secretary Kerry would have allowed Hamas to keep their rockets. With friends like these, Israel needs no enemies.

Faced with antisemitic riots, French government does what it does best: appeasement

July 22, 2014
"We surrender! Don't hurt us!"

“We surrender! Don’t hurt us!”

Muslims in France have been rioting, including attacking synagogues, in the wake of Israel’s retaliation against Hamas for months of attacks against Israeli civilians. Faced with growing antisemitic civil disorder, the French government naturally… condemned Israel:

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius called Wednesday for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to end violence in the Gaza Strip which Palestinian sources say have left nearly 600 Palestinians dead.

Close to 30 Israelis, almost all of them soldiers, have been killed as Israel battles to stop Hamas rocket fire, thwart attack tunnels and weaken the Islamist group’s ability to launch attacks from the Strip.

“In Israel and in Gaza, the situation is very hard,” Fabius said as he arrived for a meeting of European Union foreign ministers.

“Nothing justifies continued attacks and massacres which do nothing but only claim more victims and stoke tensions, hatred,” he said.

“France will act forcefully to demand an immediate ceasefire,” he added

Odd, but I must have missed the Foreign Minister’s demands for an immediate ceasefire when Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad were firing hundreds of rockets at Israeli civilians, when three teens were kidnapped and murdered, and when rockets were fired at a nuclear reactor. And surely he condemned in the loudest terms Hamas’ use of women and children as human shields, hoping for casualties in order to get that all-important propaganda coup.

France: Leading the way in caving in since 1940.

PS: Yes, I know a Palestinian teen was murdered by Israeli thugs in retaliation for the killing of the three Jewish boys. Here’s the difference: the Israeli killers were arrested by Israel and will face trial for their crime. Palestinians celebrated the murderers of the three teenagers as heroes. Who is the civilized one, and who is the barbarian? You make the call.

(Video) The Middle East problem explained

July 16, 2014

Radio host Dennis Prager cuts to the heart of the issue in this short lesson for his Prager University: the root of the Mideast problem is that one side wants the other side dead.

The one quibble I have with Prager’s lesson is that he leaves begging the question of why Arab Muslims want Israel destroyed. Why do they teach hatred of Jews in their media and their schools — even on children’s TV?

The answer is straightforward: Islam defines Jews as the mortal and eternal enemies of the Muslims. The Qur’an, Islam’s sacred book, is rife with antisemitism. And, indeed, a hadith in one of the most revered collections of the sayings and deeds of Muhammad informs the Muslims that Judgment Day cannot come until the Muslims fight and kill the Jews:

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.
–Sahih Muslim, Book 41, #6985

So, the root of the “Middle East problem” is that one side wants the other dead, and the reason for that is simple: Allah commands it. Think about it for a moment, and Hamas’ seemingly insane actions make perfect sense.

Thus I ask again: How can anyone be expected to negotiate with another party, when that other party’s is on a mission from God to kill the first party?

(Video) Hamas TV: children’s show encourages killing Jews

May 11, 2014

He’s back! Nahoul the antisemitic killer bee, whom we last heard was killed by those evil Jews, is alive! And, not only that, but he’s returned to Palestinian television, encouraging children to do the right thing.

Kill Jews.

Here’s an excerpt from the transcript, via MEMRI:

Nahoul (talking to girl TV host Rawan) : Rawan, I want to tell him to pick up a stone, and when the Jews come, to take it and throw it.

Rawan: That’s right, if the neighbors are Jewish…

Nahoul: He should beat them up.

Rawan: If his neighbors are Jewish or Zionist, that goes without saying.

[…]

Rawan (to Tulin, a little girl in the studio) : Tulin, why do you want to become a policewoman? Like who?

Tulin: Like my uncle.

Rawan: Who is your uncle?

Tulin: His name is Ahmad.

Rawan: He’s a policeman? What do the police do?

Nahoul: They catch thieves and troublemakers.

Rawan: And they shoot Jews, right?

Tulin: Right.

Rawan: You want to be like him? Allah willing, when you grow up.

Tulin: I will shoot the Jews.

Rawan: All of them?

Tulin: Yes.

Rawan: Good.

In fact, it’s even a little more evil, when you think about it; not only are they using a cute animal figure (something kids love) to teach a message of hate, but they’ve co-opted an older girl, essentially a “big sister” to the little ones, to make the murderous teaching explicit. “It’s okay.”

If Dante were around, he’d add another circle in Hell to his Inferno, just for the rats who who program this garbage.

Think about it: these are the people the Israelis are supposed to negotiate with. These are the people to whom our Secretary of State (and, in fairness, almost every Secretary before him for the last 40 years) is trying to be an honest broker, to reach a good-faith settlement between them and the Israelis. And it’s not just the Islamo-fascists of Hamas; the supposedly secular Palestinian Authority regularly pumps Jew hatred through its media, too.

How is one supposed to negotiate with someone who not only wants you dead, but teaches their children that killing you is a divinely-ordained duty?

RELATED: We’ve met other cute antisemitic animals before on Arab television. Here’s another: Assud, the Jew-eating rabbit. Also check out my “Teach the Children” category. And, for the adults, an important message: Muslims should humiliate Christians to make them convert to Islam.

The anti-Southern bigotry of @NPR

Jonah Goldberg listened to an NPR story about the defeat in the Senate of radical Leftist lawyer Debo Adegbile to head the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. Per NPR, a “handful of Southern Democrats” (1) voted with the Republicans to defeat Adegbile. Here’s the roster:

  • Chris Coons (Del.)
  • Bob Casey (Pa.)
  • Mark Pryor (Ark.)
  • Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.)

Tennessee VW workers rejected the UAW because of… racism!

February 23, 2014
Chattanooga VW workers, per MSNBC

Chattanooga VW workers, per MSNBC

But, of course.

According to MSNBC pundit Timothy Noah, workers at the Chattanooga Volkswagen assembly plant rejected membership in the United Auto Workers union because they were a bunch of mouthing-breathing, knuckle-dragging, Southern racists:

“The South has always been hostile territory for union organizing. Y’know, as Harold said, the culture war in the South trumps the class war. You already have in a number of Southern states right to work laws, which means that even if they had unionized the plants, those who benefited from the presence of that union wouldn’t have had to pay union dues if they didn’t feel like it. So you’re in an overwhelmingly hostile climate.

And the opposition I gather, through, portrayed this as a kind of northern invasion, a re-fighting of the Civil War. Apparently there are not a lot of, uh, black employees in this particular plant. And so, that kind of, uh, uh, uh, waving of the Confederate flag was an effective strategy.”

Yep, those Johnny Rebs in Tennessee just took a pull on the whiskey jug, channeled the spirit Jeff Davis and Nathan Bedford Forrest, and voted down the union, because they wanted to re-fight the Chattanooga campaign. It couldn’t have been because they made a rational economic decision as free people that the union didn’t provide enough benefits to warrant the dues they’d have to pay. Nah. It just had to be because there were so few Blacks there in the workforce that they weren’t afraid to show their real, neo-Confederate faces.

Who’s the bigot again, Timmy?

RELATED: Naturally, the UAW wants the NLRB to overturn the election results and call a new vote. Typical: If you can’t win, vote and vote again until the rubes vote the way they’re told. What do they think this is, the EU?

Though outraged, @AETV is happy to take “flyover folks'” money

December 20, 2013

My blog-buddy ST has already eloquently written about the intolerant, anti-Christian, anti-Southern bigotry behind A&E’s craven capitulation to liberal fascist pressure groups over “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson’s comments about sin and sinners, including homosexuality (1). Apparently, paraphrasing St. Paul’s first Epistle to the Corinthians is now enough to get one banned from television (2).

While ST has covered that angle admirably, I noticed something else. Last night I was watching a couple of episodes (coincidentally, I only started watching the day before this brouhaha exploded) of Duck Dynasty and stayed tuned in to catch another show called “Rodeo Girls.” As you can tell from the title, this show is not about a group of post-modern urban hipster liberals sitting around in their jammies, drinking hot chocolate and talking about healthcare. No, it’s about young, attractive women who compete in the rodeo circuit. (3) And the cultural similarities to Duck Dynasty got me wondering about the rest of A&E’s shows. (I don’t usually watch the network.) Let’s take a look at their line-up, shall we?

First, Duck Dynasty. Note that, as of today, Phil is still featured:

A&E Duck Dynasty

Next, American Hoggers. Just screams “Manhattan metrosexual,” doesn’t it?

A&E American Hoggers

Then we have “Crazy Hearts, Nashville.” A little country, a little sex:

A&E Crazy Hearts

But wait! There’s more! “Rodeo Girls!” Bikini-clad cowgirls riding stallions. (4) Yeah, I’m sure they’ll be lunching with Anna Wintour real soon.

A&E Rodeo Girls

Finally, we have “Storage Wars, Texas.” I wonder what they think of gun control and the individual mandate?

A&E Storage Wars

Notice a pattern? All these show involve people from what is disparagingly called “flyover country,” those lands beyond the pale the denizens of which the urban progressive elites like to patronize and treat like sub-normal children. And yet these are more than half the shows A&E has featured on their site. It seems pretty obvious that A&E is happy to promote shows featuring unsophisticated mouth-breathing hicks and earn money from the unsophisticated mouth-breathing hick audiences that watch, just so long as none of them express their unsophisticated mouth-breathing views.

Or maybe A&E’s honchos misread their audience:

Living in the echo chamber of the MSM’s ivory tower may well wind up costing A&E and their owners quite a bit.

Footnotes:
(1) To clarify, while I disagree with my esteemed co-blogger, Phil Robertson, and St. Paul about homosexuality being a sin, I respect their beliefs and wouldn’t want to ban them from the public square. Unlike A&E.
(2) No, I don’t think this is all that comparable to what happened to Martin Bashir. He spewed scatological, unhinged, hate-filled words at Sarah Palin. Phil just expressed his opinion in answer to a question, cited Scripture, and said it was up to God to judge. Huge difference.
(3) Watch out, Jessica! That Anthony is no good for you! (BTW, last night’s episode was set in Red Bluff, California. Not all of us are “L.A.” or “San Francisco” elitists.)
(4) Sigmund Freud, call your office.

A&E so offended by Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson that they’re continuing marathon airings

December 19, 2013

In fact, I watched some episodes last night: good stuff, and I’d swear I could recognize some of my own family in there. As for the controversy over Phil’s comments, A&E thoroughly beclowned themselves over this. Phil did not call for gays to be persecuted in any way: he merely stated his belief in the Biblical view that homosexuality is a sin and paraphrased a verse from Paul’s 1st letter to the Corinthians to illustrate it. He did not compare homosexuality to bestiality: he was listing a category of sins. I don’t agree with Phil or St. Paul on this, but it’s Phil’s right to hold that opinion and express it, especially when it was in answer to a question. A&E cravenly caved in to a liberal fascist pressure group, GLAAD, and fired someone for the crime of “wrong thinking.” (Mao would approve.) As I said last night on Twitter, “@AETV’s fundamental mistake: assuming the audience was laughing at Phil and his family, rather than identifying with them. #LiberalBigotry.” I think they’ll get a hard lesson in that when the huge audience that follows Duck Dynasty walks away.

NYC pol on knockout attacks: Blame the Jews

Because anger at your own difficulties and resentment of another’s success totally justifies punching people in the face:

Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo, who was elected to represent Crown Heights starting in January, released an open letter Tuesday saying that many of her black constituents told her they feel threatened by the growth of the neighborhood’s Jewish community — and she fears the tension could be spiking the recent violence.

“Many African American/Caribbean residents expressed a genuine concern that as the Jewish community continues to grow, they would be pushed out by their Jewish landlords or by Jewish families looking to purchase homes,” Cumbo wrote in the 1,200-word letter, which was emailed to supporters and posted on her Facebook page.

“I respect and appreciate the Jewish community’s family values and unity that has led to strong political, economic and cultural gains. While I personally regard this level of tenacity, I also recognize that for others, the accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success.”

She added that these sentiments among black Crown Heights residents “offer possible insight as to how young African American/Caribbean teens could conceivably commit a ‘hate crime’ against a community that they know very little about.”

Cumbo posted her letter a week after she was quoted making similar remarks to The Jewish Week.

Translation: Instead of working to better themselves and be successful in their own right, these misguided youths are embracing antisemitism and acting like a junior Sturmabteilung prepping for another Kristallnacht. Don’t forget that this area was the site of the infamous (and fatal) Crown Heights Riots, egged on by MSNBC host and noted demagogue Al Sharpton. They’re sitting on a potential powder keg there, and what’s needed is straight talk about bigotry and the punishment of the attackers.

But, instead of condemning the attitudes as well as the attacks, Ms. Cumbo mouths pieties about “no excuse for violence” while giving justification to antisemitism by claiming to understand their feelings.

Pardon me while I roll my eyes.

Evan Bernstein of the Anti-Defamation League gets it right:

“As an organization that has worked for more than 20 years to improve Black-Jewish relations in the aftermath of the Crown Heights riots, we are troubled by the incoming councilwoman’s sentiments, particularly her comment about resentment over Jewish economic success, which evokes classic anti-Semitic stereotypes,” New York Regional Director Evan Bernstein wrote in a statement.

“Still, it seems from her letter that she means well and we would be open to meeting with her and others in the community to continue the dialogue.”

She may mean well, but well-intentioned fools can do a lot of damage. Let’s hope Councilwoman-elect Cumbo wises up so she can be of real service to all the residents of her district.
