I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of Obama … huh?? Again???

September 19, 2012

I thought it was pretty creepy the first time, but now you can buy your very own Barack Obama flag from Barack Obama himself!

The Great Banner of Dear Leader?

And this can be yours for only $35!

L’Etat c’est Obama?

Jim Geraghty has sometimes called Obama “Our Munificent Sun-King.” Whoever knew Obama would agree?

Most of us.

The Obama Cult of Personality at the DNC Charlotte

September 2, 2012

Okay, so we’ve known for years that a lot of people on the Left regarded Obama as someone to revere, or even an enlightened being. But, um… I’d say this is going a bit far, even for Obamabots:

photo (13)

That’s not from the Obama campaign, surprisingly enough, but from a calendar being sold by an independent vendor at the Democratic convention in Charlotte.

You can see some more at Slate.

Yeesh.

UPDATE: Heh. The Weekly Standard calls this being a “Virgin Birther.

President Egobama rides again

August 17, 2012

“Tell me you love me!”

First it was inserting himself into the biographies of past presidents; now, it’s rewriting State Department country reports into resumes for Obama. Here’s one example:

Compare the nearly 1,200-word “Fact Sheet” published this week by the U.S. embassy in Brazil with the last Background Note on Brazil written during the George W. Bush Administration.

The 4,100-word Bush document, chock full of facts and figures helpful in analyzing the country and its importance to the U.S., never once mentions the name of any U.S. President. The 300-word section on U.S.–Brazil relations takes up about 7 percent of the document.

Conversely, fully 70 percent (830 words) of the Brazil Fact Sheet, which is focused exclusively on U.S. relations with Brazil, discusses President Obama either directly by name (twice!) or in the context of the plethora of programs his Administration has launched with Brazil, including a shared “commitment to combat discrimination based on race, gender, ethnicity, or lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) status; to advance gender equality; a bilateral instrument that targets racism; support for HIV/AIDS prevention, promotion of clean energy technologies in Brazil, and mitigation of climate change.”

It’s not just Bush with whom Obama differs: none of his predecessors in the last 30 years, Democrat or Republicans, have made changes like these. And remember, these paeans to President Obama are being written with taxpayer dollars. What used to be a series of neutral reports for researchers are being turned into campaign documents in praise of The Lightworker.

I don’t know if this originated with Obama the narcissist, himself, or staffers acting as sycophants, but, regardless, it’s unseemly, eye roll-inducing, and unworthy of the Chief of State of the United States.

What’s next, a golden rotating statue high above Washington?

Behold! Our first Gay president!

May 13, 2012

Well, I guess he couldn’t be our first Black president, since Billy Jeff already has that title. So Obama will have to settle for being our first Gay president (1), as annointed by Newsweek:

And do note the required religious symbolism (gag!), proclaiming our Lightworker (2) chief executive as not just our first Gay president, but some sort of rainbow saint. This, of course, comes from the news magazine Obama marketing rag whose editor once proclaimed Obama “like a god.”

Funny, that god-like saint apparently tried back in 2008 to bribe his racist ex-pastor, in whose church he sat for over 20 years without ever noticing he was a flaming bigot, to shut up. Through intermediaries and with full deniability, of course.

Hardly what one would expected from such an enlightened, sensitive being. Except one from Chicago.

Footnotes:
(1) Does this mean he’ll finally speak out for all the gays tortured and murdered under Islamic regimes? Nah. They don’t vote here.
(2) I’m never going to let you live this down Morford. It’s fawning toadies like you who feed cults of personality.

I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of Obama … huh??

March 14, 2012

Jeez, and I thought the Creepy Kids’ Choirs were carrying the cult of personality too far:

A Florida Democratic Party outpost has taken down an American flag depicting an image of President Obama after a group of veterans complained that the flag had been desecrated.

The flag was flying underneath an American flag outside the Lake County Democratic Party headquarters. Instead of stars, the blue field featured an image of President Obama’s face.

That infuriated local veterans like Jim Bradford, the office manager at the Veterans Memorial at Fountain Park in nearby Leesburg.

“I couldn’t believe that anybody in their right mind would desecrate the American flag that way,” he told Fox News. “It was disrespectful.”

“It’s a cult of personality to show his face, like Stalin or Mao,” said former Marine John Masterjohn in an interview with the Orlando Sentinel. “It’s despicable. They don’t realize how sick they are.”

Nancy Hurlbert, the chairwoman of the local Democratic Party, removed the flag after a group of veterans staged a protest outside her office.

“We’re proud of our president and we didn’t realize it was in violation,” she told the Orlando Sentinel. “I am the chair and I will take responsibility for this.”

You know what? I believe Ms. Hurlbert when she says she didn’t know this likely constituted desecration.

What bothers me though, is that she didn’t see anything wrong with, in essence, promoting veneration of The Leader. In America, we hold dear the ideas and ideals of our Founding; we respect the offices and the people who hold them, but the officeholders are subordinate to the ideas. We pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States, to what it symbolizes — individual liberty, constitutional government, the rule of law — not to the man or woman who holds the office. When someone joins the military, they swear this oath:

I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

They don’t swear to defend George Washington, FDR, George W. Bush, nor even Barack Obama.

That an official of a major American political party can’t see the real problem is kind of scary.

Praying to Dear Leader

September 29, 2009

It was bad enough seeing school children sing praises to President Obama as if he were some leftover Stalinist dictator, but when you have groups praying to him in a weird mockery of the Catholic liturgy, you’ve entered the realm of the grotesque:

Is the democratic spirit that weak on the Left, that they need god-kings?

Maybe they should learn this song, next:

UPDATE: Ed at the Hot Air link above is a little unsure if they’re saying “Obama” or “Oh God.” Of course, that could be one and the same to them. Winking
