Arthur Brooks in the Wall St. Journal on what the Greek demonstrations tell us about the differences between Americans and Europeans:
Many Europeans also expect others to work so they can live. The International Social Survey Programme asked Americans and Europeans whether they believe “It is the responsibility of the government to reduce the differences in income between people with high incomes and those with low incomes.” In virtually all of Western Europe more than 50% agree, and in many countries it is much higher—77% in Spain, whose redistributive economy is in shambles. Meanwhile, only 33% of Americans agree with income redistribution.
Simply put, Europeans have a much stronger taste for other people’s money than we do. This is vividly illustrated by the recent protests in the U.S. and Greece.
Why are citizens rioting and striking in Greece? Despite the worst economic crisis in decades, labor unions and state functionaries demand that others pay for the early retirements, lifetime benefits and state pensions to which they feel entitled. In America, however, the tea partiers demonstrate not to get more from others, but rather against government growth, public debt, bailouts and a budget-busting government overhaul of the health-care industry.
In other words, the tea partiers are protesting against exactly what the Greeks are demanding. It is an example of American exceptionalism if there ever was one.

It was horrible. Our savior, President Obama Lightworker, was visiting Quincy, Illinois, to reinforce that feeling of hope and change among the desperate people of western Illinois, when he was confronted by a vicious mob of racist, hate-filled Tea Partiers! Quincy authorities did what they had to do to protect the President from a mortal threat, sending the riot squad to contain hordes of savage little old ladies who…. Wait a minute…
Little old ladies?
Yeah, they look plenty violent to me.
Jim Hoft has the story and more pictures.
Methinks the Quincy PD beclowned itself.

Why not? Iran is their client, a thorn in the side of Beijing’s strategic rival (that’s us), and the Chinese have great experience in crushing pro-democracy demonstrations. It’s a win-win! (If you’re a fascist, that is.)
The armoured anti-riot vehicles have a capacity of 10,000 liters to shoot cold and hot water, and three 100 liter tanks to shoot burning chemical liquids. The water is mixed with paint or tear gas that cannot be washed away. Each vehicle has two guns for shooting liquid up to a distance of 70 meters- it is controlled from inside the cabin. The price tag for each unit is 650,000 dollars. Also, a lot of extra burning liquid, paint, and tear gas was purchased.
It took four months for the delivery of the armoured vehicles, and since the Iranian regime was in a hurry, they had them delivered from China’s army organization- this is rare! China’s government was in as much of a hurry to get these to Iran.
China ought to be careful: the reign of the mullahs is in a very fragile state (and, we hope, soon to crumble) and, when a new regime comes to power, it isn’t going to be very friendly toward those who tried to keep their tormentors in power.
